He's A Pirate Here is someone's unofficial transcription, created from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. This one is intended for violin, so it just gives the treble clef and includes bowing and fingering notations.

The Bilge Pumps are proud to present our latest pirate music recording, "The Idiodyssey"! (From the press release) Rollicking between goofy pirate comedy music, somber and tragic stories of woe, and fun drinking songs, this album takes traditional nautical tunes and gives them a piratical overhaul flavored with the Bilge Pumps´ brand of goofy comedy and musicality. "The Idiodyssey" is the band´s first strictly nautical music album in over six years and it features sixteen tracks of music for that salty dog in everyone. This recording, being a touch more serious-minded than the group's prior albums, is a culmination of two years worth of rehearsal, recording, and mixing…

20,000 leagues inder the sea ain't exactly pirate material, BUT there is a lot of water and plunder and sea monster goins on... Anywho, there is song sung by Kirk Douglas' character Ned Land with a turtle-shell banjo and a barking seal, I think it's called Whale of a Tale. They even worked the tune into the score! Even though Ned sings this ditty about 87 times in the movie, I can't remember the middle part of the lyrics. Sure, I could look it up online, but I thought it would be more fun to ask me associates to provide the missin' words. Here goes: Got a whale of a tale to tell ya', lads, a whale of tale or two, 'bout a.... (da da dee dee da da doo, etc.)insert co…

Funny thing I wondered today.... What musical instruments would you see aboard a ship? I can't think of any besides possibly a piccolo or a tin whistle.

I just wrote this sea shanty, to be sung by the crew of the Cynosure in my short novel The Treasure of Ashur MacBain, although I expect no more than a stanza or two will actually appear in the finished story. I conceived of it as a halyard shanty, but I'm not sure the rhythm is right for that. The one halyard shanty I know, Blow the Man Down, spaces the effort out more evenly between every line. This one sounds more like What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor? or Santy Ano, capstan shanties where the sailors push several times on the chorus. It uses the tune of , with a longer pause between stanzas for the chorus.CRO'JACK WILL Oh, Cro'jack Will had squinty eyes And…
