Can we post mp3's to the forum? I have some good Irish reels and jigs from a now defunct Fort Lauderdale band, "The Irish Times". Can I post these? conchchowder aka The King of POG The TAO of POG...part 1 So THAT'S why you served the stuff in 8oz cups with lots of ice! (heard uttered by smashed guest after LUAU 2002 while carrying their Super Big Gulp 32oz cup out of the party with four people carrying them...)

With a grand numerous pair of weathered eyes sharped enough to spot the finest of information on the World Wide Web... I'm looking for sheet music of period songs to learn on my viola and play at events. I do not mind if they are treble clef or alto clef (I've learned my Music Theory well, I can convert), just as long as they are period songs. As I said, would like to learn songs and play them at events. Thank ye most kindly, Pubmates. ~Lady B

I don't know if anyone has discussed this or not, but one of my favorite bands has an epic sea shanty/sea themed song that is one of my favorites. The band is called the Decemberists and the song is called The Mariners Revenge . If you have never heard of the band or the song you are really missing out.

Here's a little backstory for this one... By Chrystofer & Andrixios Seljukroctonis; a filk to the tune of "Ballad of the Green Berets." It all began at Pennsic War one year, when Paval (a Calontir fighter) started duct-taping stuffed hamsters onto his sword-brothers' helms; and quickly degenerated from there. The song also scans to "March on Cambredth" by Phoenyx. (Which just shows you JUST what a warped universe we live in...) The Fighting Hamsters of Calontir Fighting hamsters from the sky Some will live and some will die Hamsters have nothing to fear, The fighting hamsters of Calontir Silver tape upon their backs A broadsword is all they lack Fifty …

So like most of my more creative written work, this one started out with a bottle of Jameson's that quickly turned into Irish car bombs until my quartermaster and I started changing the words to one of our favorite Drop Kick Murphy's songs "Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced". If you don't know the song it's basically a long list of pick up lines used in a bar to pick up women. This is what we have so far... I lead a Pirate Gang, were the most feared in the land, were wanted in both England and France. I sail through Beluga, To drink in Tortuga, With a line of lassies waiting for a chance. So come on my pretty, I'll make you feel witty. These other wenches mean nothing to m…

Well...it's been awhile..... I seemed to have gone asleep somewhere in the cornfields of Iowa and woke up out here in the Pacific Northwest! At one time I was a bit of a moderator of this forum with Dutchess (Hi Dutchess!) and after talkin a bit to Stynky have thought I would throw my hand back in. Actually might have a bit more to offer than before....Since comming out here to Seattle have helped to form a small monthly get together thats called "The Last Sunday Shanty Sing" (guess when it is)... been trying to get our shanty group organized enough to do something ("Storm in a Port"-name used with permission) and hanging around with a number of great shanty si…

He's A Pirate Here is someone's unofficial transcription, created from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. This one is intended for violin, so it just gives the treble clef and includes bowing and fingering notations.

Arrr... I was minding my own business the other day, when I started singing the lyrics to R.E.M.'s "Stand" by accident. Worried that I was being non pirate-like (because pirates don't usually sing 80s pop songs), I started to examine the lyrics carefully. What I discovered astounded me: "Stand in the place where you live Now face North Think about direction? Wonder why you haven't before If you are confused check with the sun Carry a compass to help you along." If that's not sheer pirate code, then I don't know what is! Perhaps these are the introductory directions to a hidden treasure Michael Stipe burried somewhere in between his…

Attach an audio file to a post, is it possible? Failing that you'll need to search out Waiting for Bonaparte by Men They Couldn't Hang for Smugglers The boat rides south of Ailsa Craig in the waning of the light There's thirty men in Lendalfit to make our burden light And there's thirty horse in Hazleholm with the halters on their heads All set this night up on your life if wind and water speed Smugglers drink of the Frenchmens wine and the darkest night is the smugglers time Away we ran from the excise man It's a smugglers life for me It's a smugglers life for me Oh lass you have a cozy bed, and cattle you have ten Can you not live a lawful life and live wit…

During the summer me and buddy of mine recorded a song about Pyrates', it's not a sea shanty or metal song but more of a Caribbean groove with character's(Pirate voices) we created for a more comical adventure. This is in the works to be re-mixed and mastered. The first minute of this is our band of Notorious Seadawgs' trying to bury th'er treasure before the music kicks in, So ye bin warned. Would like yer opinions mates' Hope ye enjoy! http://www.guitaristworks.com/forum/files/..._final3_927.mp3

Based on a joke I heard years ago! rob k can also be heard on soundclicC HiFi http://www.soundclic...0&q=hi&newref=1 LoFi http://www.soundclic...0&q=lo&newref=1 The Pirate Long ago there was a pirate from a rough motley band; Had a peg leg, had an eye patch, had a hook for a hand. Sure and one day some one asked him how he lost all his parts. Well he heaved a great sigh and then this story he starts. We attacked a Spanish galleon on a dark, moonless night. I was climbin' up a grapple to get into the fight. Someone reached out from a port hole and he hacked off me …

20,000 leagues inder the sea ain't exactly pirate material, BUT there is a lot of water and plunder and sea monster goins on... Anywho, there is song sung by Kirk Douglas' character Ned Land with a turtle-shell banjo and a barking seal, I think it's called Whale of a Tale. They even worked the tune into the score! Even though Ned sings this ditty about 87 times in the movie, I can't remember the middle part of the lyrics. Sure, I could look it up online, but I thought it would be more fun to ask me associates to provide the missin' words. Here goes: Got a whale of a tale to tell ya', lads, a whale of tale or two, 'bout a.... (da da dee dee da da doo, etc.)insert co…
