Here... I got some lyrics from Capt'n Slappy! (He made it himself, and it goes te thar tune of OH SUSANA! I'M A PIRATE! by Cap'n Slappy Oh, a pirate's life is free from strife his journey to begin without a troubled, nagging wife a keepin' him from sin. I've set me sails, I've got me peg, a compass and tattoo, a parrot I call "Pauly" and a sword to run ye through. CHORUS: I'm A PIRATE! Now Don't Give Me No Sass! Or, I'll walk up right behind ye, lad, and kick ye in the ass! Thars a nor-east blowin' in me face a gail comin' this way. We'll stay right here and drink some more, ship out another day. And the wenches they do make me smile I think they bring…

A topic in another thread got me t' think'n about shanties sung in a bit more traditional manor then what we hear them at faire today then I remembered this link I found. He has four CDs it says but ye can sample some full tracks here: Roger McGuinn's Fork Den He has nice handful o' 'seafaring' song such as: Whup Jamboree Perry’s Victory Haul Away Joe Heave Away Bonny Ship the Diamond 'n be sure t' check th' links on th' lower right for a wonderful score o' "The Gallows Pole", he also does a right fine version o' "Silver Dagger". ...now if we can just get Capt'n Scapegoat t' cut a CD, I would love t' hear "Sirens on the Shore" again!

There were three pirates a come to my door, And downstairs ran our lady, O! One sang high and another sang low, And the other sang bonny, bonny, Biscay, O! Then she pulled off her silk finished gown And put on hose of leather, O! Then with pistol n' sword went out our door, She's off with the wraggle taggle pirates, O! It was late last night, when my lord came home, Enquiring for his a-lady, O! The servants said, at every hand, She's gone with the wraggle taggle pirates, O! O rig for me my white sailed ship, Go and fetch me my cutlass, O! That I may sail and without fail, go after the wraggle taggle pirates, O! He sailed East and he sailed …

My first posting and haven't had a chance to real all the rules and go through all the postings. Was wondering if there were any pirate songs here in the mp3 format or something similar. I'd like to give a listen to some, whatever is available. Followed a couple of mentioned links but only found lyrics or artists, no songs. Thanks for taking the time to read this & in advance for any assistance you might be kind enough to lend.

While sea shanties ain't exactly my strong suit (and I'm more adept at rattling knick-knacks off the wall with my Marshall stack), I do have an acoustic guit-fiddle and recording capabilities. If any of you musical types find yerself in need of some 6 string accompaniment, feel free to PM me for a confab.

The first song I heard of the Poxy Boggards seemed really random, but it was listening to them that got me into sea shanties and tavern songs. Most of what I hear from them is tavern songs, but they have a few sea shanties too. Here are a few links to some of their songs. These particular links will take you to someone who drew his own art for the videos posted. Holy Ground And, the first song I heard, .My late night pre-bed routine has become very relaxing. I sit at the computer listening either to the Boggards or to the Irish Rovers, smoke my pipe, and enjoy a good drink.

I am a HS teacher and our parent-teacher organization is putting on a talent show. I have good baritone/bass voice and full kit. I am informed that talent agents will be attending the show. What song do you suggest I perform? I don't know if I'll have an accompanist or if I will be performing a cappella.

I am trying to find either remixed classic shanties or original recordings that have a more "techno/tribal/dance/trance" feel... anybody got any suggestions?
