Since I am working on a list myself, I figure you all might have some ideas as well. I know some of us will have a CD with "pirate music" on it to listen to on the way to a show site or what-have-you, but taking that idea a bit further,....the question is what movies would you put on a list for something to watch before a show [like maybe the two days preceding it] to get in to that right mindset? Now this does not necessarily mean the best portrayals or costuming or anything like that,....but what movies give you the right "vibe" or "feeling" to put you mind in the right space to play a pirate?

Yar, I found the trailer for the movie Stardust and noticed that Robert DeNiro will be playing a role in the film as a pirate captain. True, he's the captain of a "flying" pirate ship, but oh well. He's still a pirate... http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/stardust/

If Pirates 4 is ever given the green light , Gore Verbinski will not be at the helm. A new Director will be attached to the project. Just... keeping you all in the loop.

While watching POTC I thought the sword Barbossa used was either a transitional rapier or early small sword. After viewing it up close, at the El Capitan exhibit, I see it has a single edge so it can't be neither of those two kinds of blades. Does anyone of what kind of blade could be a straight, single edge blade of that period? Or does anyone think it's just a made up blade for the film? Just wondering.

Non-computer types. I'd like to get some for our students here at school and need some reviews as to spend the doubloons wisely. I saw Bilgemunky had some descriptions of the various games that are coming out. BUT, what pirate "board games" that are currently on the market, do you have that you enjoy? With your kids . . . drinking buddies . . . Rennfaire mates . . . crew . . . Any links, pics and/or prices would be greatly appreciated. TIA

What the heck is that long white thing in Capt. Jack Sparrows hair? I've seen that movie a dozen or two times, even done freeze frame and zoom in on the DVD, and I still can't figure out what it is. Is it a bone? a feather? a pipe? I'm stumped!

There is one in particular I am looking for, and I don't remember whose it was, if anybody can remember... It was basically the skull crowned in roses, (I believe the Grateful Dead appropriated it for a time, eh) I found a whole slew of really great ones! Blackbeard's devil spearing the hearts was one of my favorites! Any ideas? Pictures?

I want to find some entertaining, historical movies mostly ones on like European histroy kind of stuff such as : A Knight's Tale, The girl With the Peal Earring (I am guessing more on that tile), Ever After etc.. Pretty recent films I am welling to go 30-20 years back, but I would like to find some pretty recent stuff but if its like 20 to 30 years old then that seriously would not bother me that much. I just want to find some nice entertaining films that will be fun to watch bu they give good ideas of how life was like in that peroid of time. (I might be interested in seeing the old Romeo and Juilet lol for those of you that are older then me...I believe it was made bac…

Anybody here remember the underground comix artist S. Clay Wilson? He was best known for the Checkered Demon, but he also drew a lot of comix with pirate themes. Recall, this was the late 60's in the golden age of unbelievably depraved and perverted comix. I recall especially his series about "Captain Pissgums and his Pervert Pirates," set aboard the good ship "Foaming Crank." This should give you an idea of the general tenor of the comix. Come to think of it, they may have been more historically accurate than most depictions of the Brotherhood. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

That's right mates. The Free Men of the Sea was filmed by the History Channel for a piece on Captain William Kidd. It airs Monday May 3rd at 1015. So please watch and see Scupper, Evil Tiny, Capt William Kidd and others play out the trial, and execution of one of our favorite brothers. All critics will be keelhauled. All positive supporters will have free run of me liquior cabinet. Scupper

(Waving) Hi all... been gone a few weeks. Just to keep those of you who live for going out to the park in the loop, the POTC ride will be closing this March and reopen towards the end of June. Yes, I know what all the upgrades and new installs are and no, I can't tell you. Yet. For you purests who love the ride as it is you better go now or forever hold your peace. Ya gotta wonder what Walt thinks.
