If you don't want to see spoilers about the POTC movies and other pirate pop culture media, then I suggest you do not visit this forum. There will be spoilers posted. There are many other forums to visit here at the pub such was Captain Twill, Plunder and Raids. There are many pirate pop media in circulation at this time. This forum is a place where people can converse about these. The posts may contain spoilers. I will not censor for spoilers. Read the posts at your own risk. Yers in pyracy and play,

In the kinda near future, I want to start working on a Steampunk sub-gattling gun... I've never really liked Steampunk "ray-guns"... but they do have the advantage of not being mistaken for a real gun... (I had that problem at Burning Man with my Dinosaur Hunting Rifle (see picture below) Anyway, I want something that looks steamy, but not too much like a real gun.... I will post pictures once I start working on it, but to start things off, here are some that I'm working on.... The Standard modified Nerf Maverick... Yeah, I know everyone paints them, I just wanted to play with one and change it a bit.... This is the Dino-Express before I finished it.... This was …

Okay, figured it was about time we had a place to post pictures, as our Steamy side comes out to play. Here is meself, in my kinda Christmas steamy outfit. I wore this all day yesterday, while Chain Shot and I were finally able to get into town and do some shopping, and have an early dinner (Chinese). The coat is a vintage 1940s I got about ten years ago, for $30. The hat decoration changes depending on my mood or the season.

I know that uncoated brass will tarnish in time but I purchased a few Steampunk findings and wanted to age them before attaching them to my hat and eye patch. I considered a black ink wash. Other ideas using house hold products?

This is going to be a weird rambling thread, because it will be part continuing story, part background development and information, and an online meeting place for Airship Pyrates. And if we ever do get together… A Steampunk Group, similar to the 1720 Careening Camp at PiP… where everyone is geographically separated, but when we do get together at PiP, we already have everything figured out… That’s an awful lot for one thread… We already have a name; the Columbia’s Revenge… We have a Captain… we’re just not sure if he is a ghost, or so horribly disfigured that with the aid of “Modern Medicine” he is actually a part of the Ship… (still don’t know what his name …

For the You Tube addicts among us, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can post any pirate-related videos that we find. Here's a charming one to start with -- a POTC fan vid, to the song "Dancing in the Moonlight": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WtBBZmCiew Cheers, Hester

Recently while sailing the Netflix shores I discovered a few interesting streaming films that have a pirate theme or similar adventure styled tales. I though perhaps the Pub members could share Netflix gems they have found streaming? We can even share documentaries and historical features. I found the following: Treasure Island 1999 (with Jack Palance as Long John Silver) Treasure Island 2012 (with Eddie Izzard as Long John Silver and Elijah Wood as Ben Gunn) Treasure Planet, Disney's animated science fantasy version of the classic story. Rob Roy Plunkett and MacLeane

I just got home from the Pirates of the Caribbean marathon at the theatre in Mechelen. And I must say that At World's End is really quite good :) I don't want to say more at this point, as I know not everyone has seen it yet :) (We got it in theatre's a day sooner, and an extra "day" sooner in avant-premiere. As far as 11.30 pm can be called sooner )

While not official to the whole wide world as of yet.... It is official at Warner Brothers. (and since I have no confideniality aggrement with THEM.. heh, heh, PIRATE!) There WILL be a re make of Errol Flynns *Captian Blood* on schedule for 2010. Start your casting guesses mates. At this point the seas are wide open as they have no one in mind.

I figure instead of cluttering the Columbia's Revenge thread with typing about Airship Pyrates at Burning Man, I'd start a new thread... Later, if there is enough interest and as it get closer to Burning Man, I'll post this in the events thread... Last year, I went to Burning Man with the Bomb Bay Tea Co. and had a blast. But unlike Pyrates that plan what they are going to do for an event a year in advance,... So far, no one is posting anything about what we are going to do this year.... So to get the ball rolling, I'm starting to work on my camp gear for an Airship Pyrate... So some of this will be "How I made it" posts, and hopefully discussions with others that wan…

For anyone who is connected to me on Facebook... It has become obvious that I have been pretty interested in miniature wargaming in the last many months.... And for those who aren't linked to me... Well I have been painting and collecting a lot of 25mm (1 inch) miniatures over the last many months, to tabletop wargame with. As one gets more involved in a hobby (or at least I do), new forums regarding that hobby are sought and joined etc. etc On one tabletop miniature gaming forum I am reasonably active on, SteamPunk (Or "Victorian Science Fiction" as they seem to persist in calling it, or VSF for short) is a pretty popular style for tabletop miniature gaming... But late…

Tonight I was able to see a screening of the new STARZ TV series “Black Sails”. I’ve been eagerly watching the trailers on facebook and through a twist of luck I managed to see the pilot episode in a theater on the big screen! My first impressions: This series requires “thinking” as it weaves a tale of intrigue. With a director behind it like Michael Bay you know you’re going to see some explosions (and you do!) but the detailed backstory and sub plots might be a bit much for your average viewer. Not as much action as you come to expect from Michael Bay but this isn’t a bad thing as the pilot sets up the characters and lets you know a lot has yet to be revealed. T…

Aye Mates, Me sources say there be a new show on Spike TV where they pit different warriors from different genres against each other. The show premiered April 8th and there be an episode on April 28th about pirate vs. knight. There be little doubt in me mind that the pirate wins for the pirate has the biggest gun and I know that gun well.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but some kind soul has put the entire 1990 TV movie version of Treasure Island up on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6B19E3AEE70D2DFC This version, starring Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins and Charlton Heston as Long John Silver, has never been released on DVD. VHS copies are rare and selling for quite a bit on Amazon & eBay.
