Ahoy, mates! I'm looking for someone to provide illustrations for some poems. The idea is to take some poetry and create a sort of "graphic novel." You provide the illustrations and I provide the poetry. Anyone interested? Blackbead

Greetings, pirate arteests one and all! I'm currently putting together a second anthology of poetry, short stories, and artwork. This year's work will include both pirate-themed and scifi/fantasy-themed pieces. Last year's books has sold almost 200 copies and while we aren't getting rich it has been extremely rewarding, in so many other ways, to have my work in publication. For instance, Raising Black Flags, last year's book, will be featured at a book signing at the Texas Renaissance Faire's Pirate Adventure weekend! Four of the other poets and I will get to sit behind a table and sign autographs and sell copies of the book to that portion of the 50,000 people who w…

Hello! I’m Duchess. I’m your Arts of Pyracy Moderator. I spent my childhood summers working with my mom at one of the largest renaissance festivals in the country. I worked there again as an adult for almost a decade. I’ve been involved in a variety of historic, theater and arts related endeavors for much of my life, but stepped away from performing about 15 years ago. I still have most of my gear, living in totes in my small house. It might be angling for a come back or a side step, I don't know yet. I am a physicist by training, an inveterate and intemperate learner of skills by nature, nurture and inclination. I’m thrilled to see the Pub return, hav…

I think I have developed something new...at least for me. Bleached out photos, printed them & inked lines and scanned back into pc and toned them with photo shop.

So I have been fiddling around with wood burning for a little while and decided to undertake a little project. I have needed a new coffee table for along while so I went out and procured me a nice unfinished table for a song and a dance and I am going to put my new skill to the test. I plan on covering the top of the table with a wood burned map of the caribbean. I will keep you all posted and try and get some pictures up soon.

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to put this on, but I did write and "direct" the small skit that we did for my son's birthday party, so I figured it is kind of a work of art. My son's celebrated his 4th birthday with a pirate themed party. For fun, a couple of friends and I put on a skit for him and his friends, so that we could set up the theme and "plot" of the party. I managed to finally upload it to Youtube, so please feel free to take a look and post comments, both here, and on youtube. I had to break it up into 3 videos, so be sure to click on the "More From: lordrenfest" button to the right of the video, in order to see the whole skit. I hope you enjoy …

Ahoy Mates!!! A bit ago I was contacted by a Pirate who's level of Spooky rivals that of my own t' create a leathern pirate hat that'd befit such a magnificent creature of the nyght... After many a fortnyght of consultin' and consortin' with th' darkest of powers "NyghtWing" was brought forth t' this here material plane through my hands... A menacing Vampire Bat looms from it's bow an' fixes it's dark gaze upon ye' with faceted black Swarovski crystal eyes... A suitably dark companion t' my own Skull Hat of Spooky Doom t' be sure... It has flown from here t' it's rightful owner, Batavia Bellamorte... An' upon her head may it bring a chill t' the winds an' darken th' …

The guidelines as quoted from Ransom back in the first or second round... This time we will be aiming for a "Lost" theme, or "Lost because of x weather" for the more ambitious. Please aim to have your cards ready and sent to me no later than March 26th so I can sort them and send them back at close to the end of March (some may bleed over to the first few days of April because of the sometimes slow postal service). So far we have the below list of volunteers (or voluntold in one case  ) I'll be cat-herding, I mean organizing this round by popular vote (which means no one else wanted to ) 1. Patrick Hand 2. J8ksdad 3. Pew 4. Gunpowder Gertie 5. michaelsbagl…

I've been working on a complicated process of designing and 3D printing relief plates. Then using the plates those to create the basis of 1/1 editions with a common printed element. The common element here is ,very loosely, a 16th century caravel.

Tis an idea here, mates... having a Pub Yearbook with pics of us at events of that year, etc.. just like a class yearbook. another idea is like the pen pal booklets where you make a tiny booklet with your current name and addy on it, then send it off to a friend and they will send it to someone else, etc. Eventually you will get it back with various people to write to. But instead of writing to them, have them paste a pic or scrapbook a page of themselves as a pirate or whatever. They could write something, too, I guess. But the yearbook... would be fun! Cost? Well... I suppose I could check into it. :) ~Lady B

I have seen several examples of artists joining together to make artist's journals. It involves a group of maybe 10-12 artists, each with their own blank book. They decorate the cover and the first two to three pages. It is then rotated among the rest, who each embellish two to three pages with their artwork. At the end of the prescribed time, each artist ends up with a book containing work from all the other participants. There is usually a theme. Naturally, this one would by pyracy, which leaves the subjects for artwork wide open - anything from tropical islands, to pictures of parrots. The mediums used could be anything from rubber stamps, stencils, clip art, to photo…

Artist Trading Cards or ATCs, are small works of art traded among artists. The challenge is to be as creative as possible on a small scale. For more information on ATCs click HERE. I'm calling the ones we will do PTCs = Pyrate Trading Cards. The artwork will be the same as the journals—anything goes. The BIG difference between the PTCs and the journals, is that there will be no waiting months and months for a book to come back. PTCs are a one-shot deal. Here is how it will work, if the max of ten people sign on. 1. Each person makes ten cards, one for each player plus themselves — they can all be the same design, or all different. 2. You mail all the cards to me. As t…

This is where any comments about the ongoing Pyrate Comix should go. The Pyrate Comix is here.....https://pyracy.com/index.php?showtopic=13374 Yeah, I know it's weird having two threads about the same subject, but I didn't want to clutter the Comix thread with any questions or comments.

Hopefully to begin August 1. What you need: Art book; usually 9" by 6" Ability to spend $5-$10 monthly to mail the journal to the next artist on the pub Live within the contiguous United States A commitment to see the project to the end The guidelines of the sketchbook rounds: 12 artists max. Books passed on the 1st of each month, gives each artist at least four weeks to do two to three pages. Keep the books fairly small - such as the easily available black, 9" x 6" ring-bound artists sketch books Any art work style/medium is fine. This is not "fine art" nor is it meant to be "period". It is a fun project with a pirate theme. Materials, as I said, can be a…

Okay, it's been over a week since I sent out the cards, so I'm going to go on the assumption that all the cards have reached home ports safe and sound. So, time to post some pictures, so everyone can see how much fun we had. Also, post a brief description of how you made them, in case anyone wants to play in the future. Here's what my dinning room table looked like the day I divided up the cards and goody bags, and had the mailing envelopes ready to go. Now, let's see some cards, guys!
