this is the forum for vacation spots right?? well I direct your attention to Guam. its around 80 degrees+ year round. water is teeming with fish for the scuba divers. you dont need a wetsuit either. lots of WW2 history. Low crime rates. its a US territory so no passport is required. Now for a tidbit of info you wont find on any travel brochures, more for the guys or perhaps some of the ladies. Guam is like Japan's Las Vegas. IE what happens in Guam stays in Guam. A LOT of japanese college girls fly down for the weekend basicly with a mattress on their looking for someone to do the horizontal mamba with, only to fly home on Sunday night to be Good little schoolgirls…

Well, this one's pretty big for me, and it's pretty big for pirates in general, but.....The Tallship Royaliste will now call the fantastic waterfront location of Pier 39 in San Francisco it's home port!! So, next time you are having that vacation of a lifetime, stop on down for a fullblown dose of piracy!......More news to come as the plan unfolds Phase one begins April first, and that's no foolin'!! So, I have a work obligation which will take me to Petra and Amman, Jordan, and then to Cairo, Egypt. Yes, I will try to get to the Treasury and along the Siq in Petra; and I certainly intend on getting within focal range of the Great Pyramids and Sphinx (Ahhh... I have been inside buildings even older!). And I totally promise to post some photos here upon my return. But, any suggestions from the Pirate crowd? I will have precious little free time to sight-see, but I will be frustrated beyond belief if someone out there knows of a Jordanian or Egyptian pirate connection and does not reveal it to me before my trip. I am aware of all the touristy must-see stuff (alth…

Despite controversy, homecoming is a magical time for teen sailor Jessica WatsonBy: Pete Thomas, GrindTV.com It's the eve of Jessica Watson's return to civilization, after seven months spent sailing around the world, and the 16-year-old Australian brims with excitement. "It's like the day before Christmas except I don't ever remember getting this excited about Christmas," she posted on her blog. An estimated 50,000 fans will cheer as the intrepid mariner docks at the Opera House and steps wobbly from a 34-foot pink sailboat on which she will have lived, with stuffed animals as her only companions, for 210 days. Watson, who has been dubbed "Australia's Salty Lady" by o…

Hi. It's been awhile since I have posted here and I am quite surprised to see the positive changes to the site. Of course I have to learn how to use it but that's OK. Never too old to learn. Anyway, I am posting information about a very special event taking place on the HMS Surprise in San Diego, California, on July 23rd. This will benefit Marty Klebba's charity, Coalition for Dwarf Advocacy(Coalition for Dwarf Advocacy/) Marty's site Information on event: We have some very nice auction items, some from the Pirates of the Caribbean Movie crew, plus several pirate vendors. There will be a cash bar, pirate music,an indie film "iPhone of the Caribbean", and of cours…

I am planning on visiting St. Augustine by the end of the year. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do and where to stay? My lovely Brit friend Jayne moved down and is a ghost tour guide with a new tour. She's really delightful and I can't wait to take the tour. No pirate ghosts on the stops but I'm sure it's a blast. Anyway, if anyone can help with any firsthand visits or if you live there and can give recommendations it would sure be appreciated. I've gone on-line to find stuff but so far only touristy frou-frou kinda stuff and nothing piratical. Thanks (Moderator Cap'n William, sir? Is this within the Port o'Call boundries? How did I do? If we say, talk abo…

I'm taking a 4-days, 3-nights cruise in January. One of the stops is Nassau, and I understand there is a pirate museum there. Have any of you gone to the museum? What is your opinion? Any other piratical/historical points of interest to be seen in Nassau? Thankee.

About 3 days ago, I returned from a movie job in Puerto Rico. I was there for a month. and even though the job wasn't my cup of tea, or rum anyway, my time off was pretty amazing! If you've been there. you know, but if you haven't, I'll tell you a little of what you can expect. Old San Juan was, and is, a walled city, dating from around 1510, and the walls and Spanish forts are still there. Being a U.S. possession, the 2 main forts have some nice park service displays, and since the forts overlook the Caribbean Sea, nice views. I was put up at the Carib Hilton, and the hotel is surrounded by Spanish gun emplacements. The first week, I was rather disappointed in the lack o…

Anyone ever been there and brought their pirate garb with them? That's something I would love to do some day. Run along the beach in pirate garb, walk thru the foilage with my pirate hat on. And, of course, take some cool pictures while doing all this. I could always just find some beach here in California that comes close to that of the tropical islands. But there is nothing like going to the real place. The closest I came was Hawaii when I was 13. I'd love to go back some day......

I am fixing up some gear for a Pirate Raid next weekend and needed a couple of more sword frogs so I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and found some leather and dye. This is my first attempt at this kind of frog.....I think if will do the job on my loaner gear. The leather is kinda thin...I will look for some thick stock when I get the chance. Joe
