All of the following years it will be a reuinion but the innaugural international event will be in Las Vegas (because the airfaire is cheapest to get there cause the casinos offset the discounts ta get yer money in town) it's like three miles from the airport to the park where the faire is located so cab faire is cheap too!the other reason is we can camp on site! We should have a guild yard set up there and it will be as alot of you have read promoting reading and passing out lists of easy to read titles of books available for young readers. The Las Vegas city Renaissance Faire is called The Age of Chivalry the city plans and owns it they open friday from 9:am -3:30 pm fo…

In my work as an entertainer of children at the local Barnes and Noble. I have met a young lad who is terminally ill. He wants to be a pirate! Over the last 6 to 7 months I have seen him numerous times either at my events or in my travels. His birthday is 14 December. A few years back i remembered The crew from Tales of the Seven Seas did a wonderful thing and put together a small treasure chest of donated swag for a young one. Would anyone be interersted in donating some items for Josh? I have a small chest I am donating along with some other stuff. Should anyone wish to particiapte, please let me know. my snail mail address is Scupper Burke 83 Main St Apt B Newin…

Another event I am considering, but less sure about for next year is this one... King Philip's War Event This would be a great event for those of you who are trying to put together gear for the 3rd quarter of the 17th century that would like to use it for militia portrayals as well. My main reservation about this event is that it falls very close to another event I went to last year that I hope to attend again this year. And that much traveling in that short of a period of time doesn't seem likely at this point. As a side note, I have talked to a few people about the possibility of portraying Captain Samuel Moseley's unit for this event. Samuel Moseley was a celebrate…

Ok, if memory serves me correctly there was going to be a pirate chest auction (at the PIP?), with the proceeds going to charity. Various members were listing what was going to be put into the the recently departed brethren chest. But, I haven't seen anything up about it since the Pub came back online. so is it yes? no? postponed? am curious.

now the first time I went to RPFS was when it was around the lake, then we swtitched sites to the great dust bowl. Because of operational commitments I missed last years Santa Fe dam. the question I have is, IS RPFS worth the extra bucks now? or should I just suck up missing some of my favorite performers and catch them at some of the other venues>?

Of course, after many years of just watchin' from the gutters I'll have to don me garb and hit the streets. Anyone have a pirate ship float or any ideas how to construct one quickly and cheaply?

Mates All, I recieved offical notice that the long standing Renaissance Faire of the Midlands in Council Bluffs, Iowa has shut it's gates after 23 years due to lack of funding and ever rising operational costs. This is a sad time among the Rennie community as we loose yet another area of sanity in an ever increasing insane world. For those of you who never got the opportunity to visit this faire, you missed out on a really nice faire - the only one I know of that ran at night on Friday so that the working folk could come out and enjoy themselves. At least myself and my crew where lucky enough to bring laughter and smiles to the patrons for three years. Those memorie…

I know it's not entirely pirate related but the Dickens' Fair is in full swing at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and has 3 more weekends to go. There IS a pirate shop (same one that frequents Nothern Faire) and the Sea Dogs are there performing wonderful music and song. Also there are several pirates working the fair old Redd Oktober is playing a character from David Copperfield and I am playing Fagin from Oliver Twist. Both two notorious villains of course! It's very much street style theatre and quite interactive and fun. Dickens fair site
