This thread will be locked. I will update this with important or notable information regarding this event as the information becomes available. So far... Pirate re-enactors will be taking over the Santa Maria in downtown Columbus Ohio for the weekend. We will have access to the ship starting at about 6:00 PM Friday night, through Sunday at about 5:00 PM (perhaps 6:00 PM). Accommodations All participants in this event are welcome to "camp" on the ship Friday and/or Saturday nights at your leisure. Space is fairly limited, so smaller more compact sleeping arrangements are preferred (please avoid using extra large or "King" size air mattresses). Privacy is pretty much n…

Argggggggggggggggggg!! I just booked me passage to California for this wonderful event!! It came to Florida 2 years ago for the first time in like 10 years..(down the street from my house too!!) I still remember how me and the family swelled up with tears when we pulled up and saw the great tallships sailing in against the sunlight!! All you could see was their sillouette (sails and all) against the bright light. It was breathtaking. I didn't get to see all the festivities.. it is going to be different this year!!! Sniff sniff.. I am tearing up already!!! Anyone else be going??? Gabrielle

September 3, 2011 A sleepy Spanish fort nestled on the banks of the Mississippi shrouded in the pre dawn mists. Out of the harbor a cannon sounds and the world erupts in flames. As the mist lifts a ship is seen and upon the mast flies the dreaded roger of the pirate ship The King's Revenge. Did it happen? Prolly not, but in our world, the Pyrates have finally come to the City of Kings, Memphis. We want to invite all to a fun filled family friendly day on the banks of the Mississippi presented by the Desert Rose Studios and MidSouth Buccaneers ship The King's Revenge to celebrate Labor Day. http://www.pyratefestival.com http://midsouthbuccaneers.spruz.com Pers'nal Inf…

Sigh, I was forced to return to the real world from a weekend in 1565. It was the celebration of the 445th anniversary of St. Augustine and the landing of Pedro Menendez De Avila. Here are a few photos and a video from the weekend. It was great to see everyone again and I even got a little weaving done :) Much thanks to Sgt Johnson and Mia (The Wench) for making it such a fantastic time. They were both working their backsides off to make everything happen! Photo Link From Menendez Landing Video of the cannon fire welcoming Menendez

Here is the link for the Surgeon's Journal for the September "Talk Like a Pirate Day" event. Enjoy! Note to the five regular SJ fans: There will be two editions of the next Surgeon's Journal - the one for PiP '10. The first edition will be (hopefully - a modicum of sobriety and a good internet connection allowing) updated daily while the event is going on. The second (full edition) will probably follow a month or so later. (It's an experiment to keep all you people who don't go to PiP (shame on you) up to date with pictures.)(Maybe Lob will go with me since Michael won't be there.)(Maybe.)

Okay people, what is happening to Ren Faires when rules are set in place in order to spoil fun for happy go-lucky playtrons like us, all in the name of the all mighty dollar? As I mentioned on the Raid site (Bristol Ren Faire) a group of us decided to visit Bristol Ren Faire on Saturday. In stead of having a leisure day enjoying ourselves, we were confronted with stupid rule after stupid rule. First, Cap’n Pete Straw had entered the event prior to our group, had been in the faire for about ½ hour then exited the faire (got stamped for return access) to see if he could meet up with us outside. Upon trying to reenter, Pete was told that he could not bring his hook with…
