THe 1st Annual Long Island Pirate Festival June 14 & 16, Long Island Maritime Museum, Sayville NY - Finally, the New York City area has a pirate festval to call it's own. The festival will be held on the beautiful seaside grounds of the Long Island Maritime Museum, amid the whaling boats, ships bells and quays. The air will ring with the sounds of music and cannon fire, as we celebrate Long Island's rich maritime history and pirate background. Museum is located 45 min out of NYC, in Sayville ( and no Barber of Sayville jokes, please). Organized and sponsored by Ye Pirate Brotherhood, an entertainment and re-enactment group, with the proceeds to benefit the Museu…

Saturday's third annual Marcus Hook Pirate Festival was a success thanks to the crews of the Archangel, Vahalla, Sons Of The Waves, The Plank House Crew, Vigilant Crew, Skullduggery Crew and Monti & Lucretia from Ye Pyrate Brotherhood. We also enjoyed great Pirate Music by the Brigands and Pirates For Sail. Even though the weather was cloudy and cool we all had a great time. There were some outstanding displays at the encampment and skits by Vahalla's crew. We also engaged cannon fire with the Kalmar Nyckel sailing down the Delaware river. The food venders offered up some tasty snacks and even the Chick-Fil-A Cow was getting into the spirit of the days events. I …

Aye, and grand it were. Me gun crew and I left New Haven in the rain and drove to Providence, there to board the Sloop Providence for a rousin' afternoon. On arriving, we found most of the other crews had not made it, with the exception of one chap, Frank, from the Speedwell. Most of me crew are new to the sea, so there was time needed to acclimate to the differences of runnin' cannon on a ship, as well as learning to keep the hell out of the way of the deck crew. Soon learned, though, and my brave lads were soon haulin' lines like old hands. The sun came out strong, so down Naragansett Bay we sailed, and made ready to fire a broadside of 2, two gunners to each 4 p…

Well, those of us who 'ave th' good fortune t' be located close t' both PARF 'n' MDRF 'ave a choice this year, mates. Both 'ave scheduled their pyrate invasion weekends fer September 23-24. That 'as been the traditional weekend for pyratical activity at MDRF...PARF 'as in recent memory done their pyracy in August. An' don't be givin' me that nonsense 'bout raidin' one on Saturday and th' other on Sunday. Two days in a row 'n' I won't even be allowed t' sleep in the basement or the garage. So what says local crews? Who be goin' where when?

Avast there, mates! For any of ye who might be havin the pleasure of setting yer anchor in California's, Silicon Valley, I'm firing the signal cannon fer yer help. The lovely people of Los Gatos, California (including merchants and the local constables) have constructed an enormous addition to their annual charity haunted house. The addition is a pirate village (nicknamed "Tortuga" fer all ye Johnny Depp fans)...and we be needin' a boatload o' buccaneers ta fill it! We need swashbucklers, drunks, rabble-rousers, and other forms of piratical brethren. We could also be usin' help in manning the other scenes (some are non-piratical...but still fun). Known as The Haunted …

Ok, so the date is September 10th. I KNOW it is far in advance, and I KNOW it is during renn season (Deaf Awareness Weekend). So I KNOW that many folks won't be making it. But anywhoo, just throwing it *out there* in case anyone is interested: The Fells Point Development Corporation (non-profit) is hosting a Pirate Festival in Fells Point, Baltimore on September 10th. It starts at noon and festivities run all night. I have been told that the blocks will be closed off, and they will have entertainment in various forms (they have shanty singers, storytellers, comedy acts, etc..) and pirate-esque ships docked for tours. The block party will run from noon until 6:00 p.m…

Avast ye swabs! It is my great pleasure to announce the most excellent and auspicious event that is BRETHRENCON. BrethrenCon is by far Colorado's largest and most exciting pirate event, and Denver's first EVER pirate convention! Drawing buccaneer brethren from across the nation to partake in our revelry, BrethrenCon is an event not to be missed! Just because we're landlocked doesn't mean we can't party like pirates! Indeed, we believe our aquatically challenged location to be an advantage. Why? It's simple: neutral ground. You cannot get farther away from the ocean than Denver, Colorado (well, except maybe for Kansas. But seriously, who wants to go to Kansas?). …

Okay people, what is happening to Ren Faires when rules are set in place in order to spoil fun for happy go-lucky playtrons like us, all in the name of the all mighty dollar? As I mentioned on the Raid site (Bristol Ren Faire) a group of us decided to visit Bristol Ren Faire on Saturday. In stead of having a leisure day enjoying ourselves, we were confronted with stupid rule after stupid rule. First, Cap’n Pete Straw had entered the event prior to our group, had been in the faire for about ½ hour then exited the faire (got stamped for return access) to see if he could meet up with us outside. Upon trying to reenter, Pete was told that he could not bring his hook with…
