July 8-9. Shore Line Aquatic Park in Long Beach CA. This is looking to be a big event with camping over the weekend and crews from all over. We have a small crew attending with a local group and planning on lots of photos. This event has really morphed over the years. It seemed to have a slow start after taking over after the beloved Ojai Pirate Festival. Became Belmont Pier Invasion for a while and now is in a large seaside park in Long Beach run by Order of Leviathan..

So I missed Hampton this year, but I and my whole family are going to come up to Havre de Grace for Piratefest. Yo ho! Anyway, I thought I'd like to bring some Pirate food and drink to share, which leads me to ask - what are the rules at Piratefest about such things? Particularly, is alcohol allowed on site? I was thinking of making a genuine Bowl of Punch, which is so often mentioned in Johnson's General History as the setting for piratical revelry and plotting. Maybe some salmagundi also.

Here's a link to the 2012 Michigan Pirate Festival held in Grand Haven, Michigan. Pirate Surgeon's Journal From the Introduction... "Grand Haven is a very strange place to hold a Pirate Festival given that Grand Haven is also known as 'Coast Guard City USA.' The Coast Guard recently updated their rules regarding piracy, but the event organizers apparently managed to stay under the radar (so to speak.) Also odd is the fact that the Forsaken crew is a group of pirate hunters and the Mercury crew is a group of pirates. We'll have to assume that theirs is some sort of dysfunctional codependent relationship. What are pirate hunters without pirates, after all? On the other h…

every year, there is the blessing of the fleet at portage de sioux , missouri... and each year they have a different theme... this year's theme, of course, is pirates... a local guy has converted a boat into a pirate ship on which he gives cruises, etc... he is going to be leading the pack on the water... exactly what anyone's participation level is going to be is still being worked out right now...we may end up simply showing up and adding some piratitude to the whole affair... i will keep everyone updated....

For more images of the Great Lakes River Pirates raid on Historic Fort Wayne, including some very nice photos of the 5 boats we had at the event, please see the corresponding blog entry on Slightly Obsessed Friday last, the forces of the Great Lakes River Pirates, under the guidance of Lt.'s Garland & Lith, gathered at the confluence of the St. Joseph, St. Marys, and Maumee Rivers for a planned raid on Fort Wayne, situated there. The good Lt. Lith, having taken much to drink and gambling at Black's Coffeehouse on Saturday night, attempted to alter the outcome of a dice game, instead found himself engaged in a duel the following morning. So we're almost home and I couldn't wait to post about this event. So here I am, feet up on the dashboard, still in kitn toes poking through the holes in my stockings, posting on my pink Blackberry. Yeah, that's right. Mickey and I arrived in Havre De Grace at 4:30 Friday afternoon, a stark contrast to our usual 2 am show times. Also, we didn't get lost once or have to call anyone for directions! Black John showed up not long after and we stood around and talked a while before starting to set up camp under a lovely shade tree. Shortly, the Half Moon Maurauders showed up and pitched camp too. Lady Brower and I had been yapping on the phone and pm-ing back and forth for …

There will be lots of buccaneers and rovers at the Old Fort MacArthur Days this year. Both the Rogue Privateers and the Port Royal Privateers will be there setting up camp. Cap'n Michael, myself, and our furry crew will be setting up with the Rogue Privateers (in fact, Cap'n Michael is the Captain for the event). We'll be encamped next to the Winged Hussars, so shouldn't be hard to find. The Rogue Privateers will have plenty of artillery present. So lots of excitement. For the youngun's we'll have a spar set up for them to explore, and feel what it was like to climb out on the yard, on the footropes, and reef the sail. We'll also have period games for young and old…
