July 8-9. Shore Line Aquatic Park in Long Beach CA. This is looking to be a big event with camping over the weekend and crews from all over. We have a small crew attending with a local group and planning on lots of photos. This event has really morphed over the years. It seemed to have a slow start after taking over after the beloved Ojai Pirate Festival. Became Belmont Pier Invasion for a while and now is in a large seaside park in Long Beach run by Order of Leviathan..

The big feature this year is a period correct ship of the Queen's fleet during the 1570s. Log on over to their website (www.renfair.com/bristol) and take a look! P.S. Love to see if I can't get a group together and venture down there for a weekend

The Windsurfing Nationals competition will be celebrating the final leg of the competition in piratical style of Friday, July 16th, 2004 and topping it off with a circus show hosted by the pirates of Tales of the Seven Seas! The day begins with the tall ship Royaliste serving as the committee boat for the race and firing her guns to start the race! Following the race, the racers and their families will be treated to dinner at the St. Francis Yacht Club. This (look closely and you'll see the mast of a sunken ship going through the roof of the building!) Guests will be met at the door by pirates and harrassed by our seafarers throughout the course of their meals! ("Steak?…

My wife and I will be attending this event. We've been planning for months. This will be the first event we are attending in PC gear. I'm wondering if it is possible for us to hang out in the PC camp for a bit and see what it is like. We both have interest in attending other events already. Who would I need to contact or ask politely (please) to test the waters for a few hours? Thanks in advance for any info.

Privateer Pete as "Derek Newcastle" a snooty MC who describes to the audience the evenings entertainment- poetry readings, morality plays and a violin performance by Mary Ellen Lipnicky. Poison Quill as "Mary Ellen Lipnicky", squeaking out a horrific version of "Ode to Joy" as the pirates boo, shout insults and heckle her from the audience! Ace of Harbor Bay as Captain Jack Sparrrrow, arrives just in time to save the audience from a fate worse than death! (Mary Ellen & her violin!) Pirates storm the stage and commandeer the show!! Poooooor Mary Ellen is bound at the wrists!! So is Derek!! The pirates are taking over!!! Continued in next post...

The Pyrates of the Coast will be raiding St. Augustine Saturday, July 23. We have a large force of raiders (18 at last count). We'll be at the fort for the 3:30 firing of the fort cannon (one of our pirates is working undercover on cannon duty - argh!) and then we're off to town. At 8, we'll be at Taberna de Gallo... we'll be looking for all of our nautical and piratical friends there. -- Hurricane Captain of The Pyrates

Please check in and let us know you're safe. second- THANKYOU!!!!!! over 100 soaked reenactors from seven groups not including the boat crews. Wow what a great weekend. This was the largest, most action packed, and largest attended festival yet with next year being even larger with help from out friends up and down the coast and across the nation! There is absolutely no way to thank the many crews, vendors, volunteers, and staff who made this happen. It was far from a perfect weekend, but every one adjusted to their little hiccups and bump and diid the absolute …

It's after midnight here, had a late dinner and decided to go to the hotel's business center and check my email. Wow, I've only been gone since Wednesday and I feel I've missed a lot here. So far it's been a lot of fun, keeping busy by walking up and down the isles of the booths and all. Tomorrow is the big day, Saturdays are always crazy! Ugh, it's going to be a long day. Well, talk with you all some time on Sunday....that is if I don't run to Disneyland and use my annual passport to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Pirates ride. Yup, 50 years ago on July 17th Pirates opened it's doors. Woo-hoo! Anyway, see ya all laterz! Miss ya Phil!
