https://www.facebook.com/events/396509460511929/ It is March, 1716. Fresh from salvage operations on the treasure fleet that sank the previous summer, the crew of the pirate sloop, the Scavenger, sail to a secluded section of Florida coast. There, they will celebrate their newfound wealth, and careen their vessel in preparation for the next hunt. Along the way, they are joined by a host of other pirate vessels similarly enriched by the Spanish silver brought up from the depths. Together, they set sail for a deserted island, just off of a lonely stretch of Florida coast, far from the prying eyes of the governments of the world. The idea is to portray a pirate camp from…

Ahoy, all. Working in the Public School service plus the Maritime Museum up here, means that I get but rare chances for travelling. I'm already lookin' at a rare trip south to Connecticut in late August, afore the new school year starts up, and so thought to have a browse for anything during taht time. An' it _looks_ as though only Toronto, Ontario, has anything piratically-inclined that's not in May or December! [Well, a slight exaggeration, but...] Anyone know of anything on the Eastern Seaboard that's coming up in mid- to late-August? Since I'll be on the prowl, and all.

Pastimes Entertainment has announced that their 6th annual pirate festival will take place in Gloucester this year at Stage Fort Park during June 20-21. The New England Pirate Faire has moved to America’s Oldest Seaport to take advantage of the historical significance of Gloucester, as well as to enjoy the oceanfront view afforded by Stage Fort Park. The annual production debuted in 2004 and has been held every year since in Salem. Pastimes’ Creative Director David Stickney said the production’s move to Gloucester will fulfill a long term goal for the company. “Wherever you are at Stage Fort Park, you can see the ocean. So me gun crews and I reported aboard the schooner Quinnipiac bright and early yeasterday morning. Loaded our swivel, Nightingale, and our bastard 3, Cricket, and sailed off to join the British, burning New Haven, CT. This was one of the Rev War 225th anniversary battles and was well attended. Some British Forces made a landing in longboats, while the rest joined up at Lighthouse Point. We provided cover against the rebels. The land forces then fought a 2 mile running battle through the streets of Morris Cove up to Black Rock Fort. We stood offshore and kept the bombardment going. When the rebels finally got to the fort to make their final stand, we anchored off t…
