Had a great time at the Port Washington Pirate Festival. The crew gave out almost two chests full of trinkets to the new pirate recruits. The patrons seemed engaged and pirates friendly and ready for fun.

The members of Seahorse.org are having a Pirate Party at the Crowne Plaza International Chicago (O'Hare) this Friday night. It's the Silly Pirate Variety. Oriental Trading Company, Dead Men Tell No Tales, Port Royal, etc. We're not historical reenactors (except that we plan to have as good a time at this party as we did at the last one). But, we have fun. And pirate attire is required (mostly bandanas eye patches, and fake mustaches, forgive us). So, if you don't mind hanging out with a bunch of aquarium/wanna-be-pirate geeks, and aren't sticklers for authenticity, and like beer, music, and mayhem please come by. We're thinkin' 9:30-10ish until the tide goes out. Cro…

My Nor Cal experience was just so full and exciting that a few posted pictures wouldn't be enough to describe it. So, with a nod to Mission and his PIP journals, I decided to post my much shorter version of a diary, with pictures. It may take me a few days to get it all posted, but here goes... Friday June 19, 2009 Richmond to Vallejo on board the Aldebaran. Chain Shot and I were given the privilege of being part of the crewe which would sail the 72' schooner Aldebaran from Richmond to Vallejo, where she would take part in the two afternoon gun battles with the shore battery and the British. We would also be part of the gun crewes for those battles. Red-Handed Jill …

This is a companion thread to Ransom's Nor Cal Diary. If you'd like to post comments about my diary thread, please, feel free to make them here. I will be adding pictures and journal entries to the Diary thread over the next couple of days. It was one of the best times I have ever had at an event, and my first experience at learning to sail.

Well my name is Jants, newbie to this forum. Just wanted to share my first real pirate party, which turned out to be a great fun. Got to meet various cast members of POTC, made kids jaws drop to the floor and got to hang out with a bunch of friends and made new ones. They had a nice area blocked off, with vendors and pirates everywhere. Got plenty of compliments and even had Lee, Marty, Treva, Vince, David Patykewich and many others tell me nice things about my attire and over-all look... was amazing. I also ran into Mike, who dressed as Davey Jones and straight up had a blast. This bar felt like Tortuga, they had a wench auction, drunken pirates were everywhere and…

Hello all (again ) It's that time of year again, when you are getting sick of all the posts and advertisements on events all the event organizers are trying to coerce you to go out to.... I'll keep it simple, the festival is open to all, has a wide variety of fun pirate activities, and some great shows and entertainment.... And the part that is nearest and dearest to my heart, the historical section where the reenactors are. The web site to the overall festival can be found at this link http://pyratefest.co/ Anyone wishing to participate as a more historical reenactor should contact me. While this event does draw some great historical portrayals, I have always trie…

St Erasmus (or Elmo), the patron saint of sailors, was a bishop who was martyred around 303 AD. Saint Elmo's Fire is an atmospheric optical phenomena in which a faint blue glow may be seen on the mastheads or rigging of a ship after a storm due to an electrical discharge. It was taken as a sign of St. Elmo's protection from danger. Raise a glass and rub yer feet on the carpet to the Patron Saint of Sea Dogs! The Martyrdom of St. Erasmus...

Sea Wolf and I will be travelling to So. California fer the premiere of POTC2, and we wondered if there are any pirate or sea-related activities going on the week that we will be there? We will arrive on June 21st and fly back on June 28th. We plan to drive down to visit the San Diego Maritime Museum.

Cutthroat Pirate Festival

 My sisters, brother-in-law and I (in proper pyrate attire, mind ye!) went to the Cutthroat and it was piracy indeed. $16.00 at the gate on Saturday -- opening day -- we were there at 4 PM and the place was deader than the deadest mackerel in the barrel. It wasn't THAT hot - temperature-wise - and only a handful -- maybe a dozen -- pirates were in evidence at the - cough cough - booths. The beer wasn't cold, the only game booth was one lone feller trying to get us to pay a dollar to break a plate. The only entertainment was one guy trying to spin a yarn out of a threadbare imagination and some other feller singing -- not some pirate shanty -- but a tired old E…
