Hey all, This is more of an "after-action report" than an event announcement... But this past weekend myself and my wife and a handful of others did a demo style event on the reproduction of the Santa Maria here in downtown Columbus Ohio. We had a lot of fun, and got to meet some other local folks that are similar minded so it was a great day all in all. My Photobucket account has a bunch of photos taken throughout the day for those inclined to want to take a peek. There was some talk about the possibility of doing a second "mini-event" of this type later in the summer or perhaps in the autumn, just in case there is anyone in the Columbus area that might be interested (…

I know people are getting sick of hearing about this one already.... But.... We are currently TRYING to arrange that the September edition of this event be an all weekend deal as well. We have a few obstacles to get around before we can firm that up, but please do keep that in mind if you had a great time and would be willing to come back out for a weekend, or come out for the first time for a whole weekend... Also IF we can arrange for the September edition of the event to be all weekend, we will most likely be trying to work an evening ball into the deal as well... Again please keep in mind this is all very speculative and tentative right now, but we are trying..…

More details to come, but you can find the "Spectators" Facebook page at this Link, the Spectator's Web Page at this link, and most importantly for those of you who wish to join us as re-enactors or pirate entertainers, the participants web page at this link. We are toying with the idea of a "Partipants" Facebook (group?) page, as just about everyone who comes uses Facebook, whereas not all particpants are Pyracy "pubbers" (shame on them!). I'll share the link when it is created (or whoever sets it up will). This Facebook group page will be for those seriously considering coming only, and an all business page, or at least mostly business anyways (if we do it). If we do t…

This thread will be to cover the items being sold in and discussions about the "Dead Man's Chest" auction to be held to raise money to help keep the Santa Maria replica on the Scioto River in downtown Columbus Ohio afloat. First a few details. After a fair bit of discussion within the Scioto Pirates, and plenty of idea brain storming, we decided to best way for us to do the auction was via eBay. Doing the auction through eBay will allow both participants AND those who are not able to make it able to bid on items at their own discretion. As eBay allows auction length only up to two weeks, the "Official" auctions will be set up two weeks before the event and from there bi…

Mikey might I suggest another thread for just the necessary information... this is one is getting long to shift through... We obviously have the what, but do we have exactly the when, such as when can we truly arrive by, who we need to speak to when we get there, When do we have to be packed up and out of there? has parking been set in stone yet? If so exactly where (as in actual addresses and such for the mapquest folks) Will parking be free or is there cost? What exactly needs to be packed, approximately how much powder(roughly how many rounds to fire) Any idea of what the schedule will be? What you want demonstrated and by whom? I'm sure you don't want everyone …
