The dates for this year's event are the weekend of May 18th and 19th. As usual the ship will be available for participants to stay aboard on the night of Friday the 17th (as well as Saturday night). Last May we had a record attendance for participants (Around 50, with almost 40 staying aboard the ship for the weekend), and public attendance/spectator numbers were the highest for the event ever. We hope to keep this positive motion going.... Specially consider after this May, there will be the September TLAPD weekend on the ship, and then a hiatus. The ship will be closed for the 2014 season as the river will undergoing some heavy dredging and mild redirection, which will…

Would anyone from this grand group be headed to the Mystic Realms Renaissance Faire in Pine Hill, NJ next weekend? If so 'ave ye been there in the past? I'd be most interested in talking with anyone who has been there or is going. I be headed there myself on Saturday, first faire of the season for me, although I was to go to one this weekend to check it out for next year, (potential for selling me wears there and all ye know) but due to the unexpected "illness" of me land ship, which will be in "dry dock" for repairs until the begining of the week I'll 'ave to miss that one. yours aye Kat

Not to be confused with "National Speak Like a Pirate Day" on September 19th. When is National Pirate Day? Sources tell me that National Pirate Day is in May, but there seems to be some confusion about the actual day. I've almost certainly missed it. Anyone?

HAPPY NATIONAL PIRATE DAY! This is not to be confused with "National Speak Like a Pirate Day" which is held on September 19th. This is just "National Pirate Day", a holiday that has slowly disappeared over the years. The general public has become so familiar with "National Speak Like a Pirate Day" that many people refer to that as "National Pirate Day", so the original holiday has all but vanished. It is now nearly impossible to find any reference to it on the internet, due to this confusion of names. Still, isn't it nice that we get two holidays, almost equally spaced in the year? Two times a year when we can invite people over and serve them stale, maggoty food an…
