If it's real Pirate Treasue, weapons and relics of daily living supplies ye be wantin' ta see, then the North Carolina Maritime Museum has the "Goods"! The Repository of all objects recovered from the wreck just outside the Beaufort/Morehead Inlet are being brought to the Museum to be preserved, identified and cataloged. At this point nothing retrieved has had the name "Queen Anne's Revenge" or Blackbeard attached to it so the salvors are continuing to concider this wreck to be "assumed" in identity. However, it's in the "right" place and frrom the "right" time. The museum has a very interesting exhibit with artifacts, art and models as well as the repository at the mu…

(Disclaimer. This is not exactly on topic, and the mods can move it to elsewhere if they so please, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up just in case they'd be interested in seeing something different.) This coming weekend, at the Lock House Museum in Havre de Grace, Maryland, my friends will be holding a reenactment of the Battle of Clontarf. I may be mistaken, but I believe groups from England will be there, and also the Longship Company, with their replica viking longship. If you are in the area, drop in. It'll probably be pretty cool. I may be there taking pictures. I won't be reenacting, since I have other duties during the day and/or weekend. There's a leng…

Iron Jack, Patrick Hand and I spent the weekend at the Mt. Ranch Muzzleloaders Rendezvous in Railroad Flat, California (which is in the mountains northeast of the Stockton area.) We decided to try our hand at creating a primitive camp and representing pirates at this event. Patt has been trying to get other folks to join him at these events for awhile so we took him up on this one. We got there Friday morning and were met at the gate by a man with a dead coyote on his head. He gave us the rules and told us where everything was, in particular the primitive camp area. At this event, you have the option of camping in the "tin tipi" area or the primitive area, but in the…

Join us for a celebration to the memory of one of the most legendary rogues in piratical history- the Infamous Blackbeard!! Saturday April 17th 2004, We'll sail aboard the Royaliste to a historic lighthouse which has it's roots in a pacific pirate legend. The original owner of the lighthouse was a rogue, who was a disappointment to his parents and was sent off to make a name for himself. Upon his arrival on the shores of America, he stated his profession as a "writer". The clerk thought he said "fighter" and sent him to Oakland where there was a small, but notorious haven of pirates. The writer turned fighter struck an accord with the pirates, sent them off in a ship a…

Announcing the Third Annual Boarding Actions: California Worskshop- BACA 2008! The HMCA will be holding this popular workshop in early maritime weaponry the weekend of April 5th and 6th, 2008. This year we are excited to continue these classes and anounce the addition of belaying pin, boarding knife, slungshot and a class on how to defend against multiple opponents to the format. Greetings, there is an informal invasion planned April 30 or May 1 in Chicago Ill, either Friday or Saturday (Friday is the prefered night so far) If you are around that area then, join us for some drinks and songs at the Kerry Piper in Downers Grove! Last time we had a blast, with Irish pipers and singers and lots of ale. Please email me or PM me about it ASAP so we can plan it better. There is a chance that if there is not enough interest, we may cancel it. So don't plan on just showing up! BTW, this is a going away pirate party for Capt. Morgan, since he is shoving off June 1 for a long sea cruise to Iraq. Merrydeath

As ye scurvy dogs are well aware (be it by seeing or because ye stepped on my pins in the pub..OW!), Penny's got a sewin' kick in her, particularly in the realms of costuming. Anyway, yours truly has been convinced by a friend to go to CostumeCon 22 in Atlanta in a little less than a month. Now...I KNOW that there has to be some pirates about in that end of the water. May'aps some of ye are even going to be ATTENDING this fine event. I couldn'a say for sure. I say if this be the case, then there needs to be a gatherin' in the bar or somethin'. Perhaps a good proper gang of scallywags needs to gather together and haunt the halls...because this convention NEEDS pirates…

Anyone whose going to the Escondido faire know if there's any coupons available? I thought there was on their website, but I was wrong. Only Palm Springs and Corona had that. Was wondering if perhaps places like Vons, Albertson's or just stuff like that would. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Escondido Ren-faire is the first weekend of April, 3-4. It's a great faire, lots of trees, wonderful area, and of course PRP will be there with our encampment. Though it's not a pirate faire, this particular faire is growing larger and larger all the time as word spreads about the great location. Besides, I love having such an event virtually in my own 'backyard' - I'm seven minutes away! Yippeeee, no camping required for me! If those of you living here in S. Calif. get a chance to attend this event, do it! Even though it's only one weekend, it's definately worth coming for. Hoping to meet some more of you great people!
