A new Renaissance fair has been created on a 17 acre area in Kilgore, Texas. The 'Avalon Faire' is a medieval, Renaissance and piratical fair that will be held each weekend from March 28 through April 26. It will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Avalon Faire will feature entertainment, vendors, concessionaires and artisans from around the country and world. In addition, the entertainment will include full-contact jousting by National Geographic's Knights of Mayhem, birds of prey and falconry demonstrations by Knightwings and a variety of magicians, musicians and jugglers each weekend. April 16th thru 25th, 2010 | 28th Anniversary Conch Republic Independence Celebration Key West, FLORIDA In 1982 Key West and the Florida Keys seceded from the United States as a response to Border Patrol check points causing 17 mile long lines. The schooner Western Union attacked the Coast Guard cutter in the harbor with stale Cuban bread and conch fritters.
