This is an event in St. Augustine Florida in earlty March. The event is hosted by Searle's Buccaneers, the direct information about the event can be found ON THIS WEB PAGE which hasn;t been updated from last year quite yet... But although I wasn't there last year (I wanted to very badlly), I doubt much would have changed for this year's coming event. I have a flyer for this year's event at home, i will take a look at it tonight and add any details from that here for those interested. While I can't guarantee I am going yet, this event is pretty high on my list of hoping to make it to.

Ahoy! I have returned safe and sound from Searle's Raid. I have plenty of pictures to share as well as a few tidbits. Hurricane and I arrived bright and early Friday morning to see a camp already well underway in construction. We set up tents for our crewe throughout the day and settled in. Not much later we saw our visitors from the white north, Mickey and Kate Souris, Callenish and Salty Pots along with Wee Hammish! Poor Kate was suffering from the horribly long drive so I insisted the rest of them take care of the set up and leave her to rest (or socialize, call it what you wish). As the day progressed more and more people arrived. I am not sure what the final tal…

I had considered going to this, but real life got in the way... However, I have followed the event (mostly through Facebook) and now that the results are in I am happy. There were no less than three GAoP groups that placed. See list of winners here There were three major categories for contests, with each category divided into three general time-frame sub-categories. But the GAoP was very well represented! The Sea Rats Atlantic, won third place in the "Best Uniform/Clothing Impression" category! The Archangel Crew won first place in the best camp cooking category. And the "York Privateers" won third place in the "Best Encampment (material culture and Interpretation)…

On behalf of all Searle's Bucaneers we wish to say thank you for making this event the best one yet. I hope that everyone that made the trip had a safe and memorable time. We had people from as far away as Texas and Ohio. We had people from 9 different states come to this years event. For those that missed the fun, now is the time to make plans for next years event. This year we had 92 men, women and children at the Fountain of Youth and the battle downtown, that is up from the 81 we had last year. The rain stayed away (a light drizzle was all we got) and the weather was perfect for camping! Thanks again to everyone for making Searle's 2011 a rousing success! …

Searle's Raid will be on March 6-8 2009 at the Fountain of Youth park in St Augustine Florida. Please excuse the old info on the web site. The webmaster has been under the weather, this will be corrected shortly. The website http://searlesbuccaneers.org/ still has a wealth of information pertaining to the Raid. You can find a history of the raid compiled from various sources from our event coordinator Mr. Davis Walker. There are also links for Rules and guide lines for the event. http://searlesbuccaneers.org/Searles_Rules.htm. Greetings one and all. Thank you all for the intrest you have shown for the upcoming Searle's Raid event! I have some news that needs to be passed along. Pease make sure that this info gets to those that are making the trip to the event. 1) I need your tent foot print. Size of tent with guide lines inplace. (I told Shay of the Keys that I wouldn't need the info, but alas things change, sorry Shay.) Please email me at jeffjohnsonfl@yahoo.com or PM me on the Pub. 2) Registration will take place onsite when you arrive. Due to a last minute unforseen budget shortfall (The city cut our grant funding) we are asking everyone to pay $5 dollars at the registration tent. This wil…

March 20th, 2010 | Swallows Day Parade San Juan Capistrano, CALIFORNIA Not a pirate event, but No Quarter Given (accompanied by the NQG PyRats) will be marching in the parade with the Buccaneers of Tortuga, the Alliance of the Double Cross, and other brethren of the sea to welcome the return of the swallows to San Juan Capistrano. Pirates did raid San Juan Capistrano in 1818, so there is a piratical connection. Parade starts at 11 am, but come much earlier to get good parking. Street closures are at 10 am. Day-long street festival with food and entertainment in the Mercado. Contact information for interested pirates wanting to march coming soon.

After a month and a half of alternating my nights between studying Spanish and working on this monster (that was going to be 6 pages long...then 7...then 8...) it is done! Thanks so much to the lovely Brig for looking editing it for me after I could look at it no more. If anyone know the names of people that I don't, please feel free to let me know so I can correct that. There were so many of them... Searle's Raid 2010 Surgeon's Journal Feel free to share it with others who aren't around here much.

I was sick and missed th' October sessions but I have a question about this year's scheduling: 1) Is is possible to schedule th' Rum Tasting so it will not overlap with any of th' weapons classes, preferably AFTER th' weapons are all stowed? I ask this for last spring th' Rum Tasting was going to over lap with th' Advanced Black Powder, however we got lucky as that instructor failed t' show and th' instructor for th' earlier was kind enough t' cover for him and we opted to give up lunch so we could all go t' th' Rum Tasting after lunch. Otherwise we would have had to make th' most difficult choice in a pirate's life: Rum or BOOM? Also do not forget to inform th' instr…
