http://www.varf.org Anyone going? Anyone been in the past? This appears to be a small one (admission is only $5.00), but having never been before, I'm not sure how small or how worth the trip it actually is. First four weekends are at Lake Anna Winery. Final weekend is in Salem, VA.

Searle's Raid will be on March 6-8 2009 at the Fountain of Youth park in St Augustine Florida. Please excuse the old info on the web site. The webmaster has been under the weather, this will be corrected shortly. The website http://searlesbuccaneers.org/ still has a wealth of information pertaining to the Raid. You can find a history of the raid compiled from various sources from our event coordinator Mr. Davis Walker. There are also links for Rules and guide lines for the event. http://searlesbuccaneers.org/Searles_Rules.htm. If anyone is looking for period correct clothing please check out Sykes Sutlery. They carry really nice Monmouth caps. http://sykesutler.…

Greetings one and all. Thank you all for the intrest you have shown for the upcoming Searle's Raid event! I have some news that needs to be passed along. Pease make sure that this info gets to those that are making the trip to the event. 1) I need your tent foot print. Size of tent with guide lines inplace. Please email me at jeffjohnsonfl@yahoo.com or PM me on the Pub. 2) Registration will take place onsite when you arrive. Hi, just thought I would post this. I know someone previously posted before Christmas time about the parade in El Segundo where they had ren faire reveler's...so I thought I would add this. I live in town and saw this on the High School's marquee. El Segundo High School Rennaissance Faire March 25 10-4 Front Lawn. I just called the High School and talked to the Principal Maxine and she said that it was for the whole community and not just the students. I tried to ask her more but she did not know more...lol! She said someone named Gary Fritz (spelling?) set it up and he was in class. So if anyone lives in town or knows more about it than I, please feel free to…

A free-form historical reenactment held every year in March and again in October / November at Fort Gaines, on Dauphin Island, Alabama (Ye SCA folk know it as Gatalop). Not strictly piratical or nautical: small groups recreate groups of the colonial era (roughly, 1699 - 1820's) of the Gulf region. Lot of fun! You can stay in the Fort itself or at the nearby Gulf Breeze Motel. Some of us Baratarians are going to go as British pirates / privateers of the 1780's. :) Capt. William

The Schooner 'Wolf' had a pirate escapade for the cameras of the travel channel yesterday, and I'd like to be raising me tankard to all the fine folks who went out a mauradin' (especially to Spyder or whoever brought that wonderful bottle of rum!) We had a great time, and the show should be out in Oct. or Nov. right before Pirates in Paradise! Key West Pirate

I was sick and missed th' October sessions but I have a question about this year's scheduling: 1) Is is possible to schedule th' Rum Tasting so it will not overlap with any of th' weapons classes, preferably AFTER th' weapons are all stowed? I ask this for last spring th' Rum Tasting was going to over lap with th' Advanced Black Powder, however we got lucky as that instructor failed t' show and th' instructor for th' earlier was kind enough t' cover for him and we opted to give up lunch so we could all go t' th' Rum Tasting after lunch. Otherwise we would have had to make th' most difficult choice in a pirate's life: Rum or BOOM? Also do not forget to inform th' instr…

I was wondering if anyone has heard much about the Military through the ages timeline event in Maryland in March (March 17th - 18th this year)... It is in or near Williamsburg. Do any of the pirate groups set up or attend this one? I've attached a link below in case anyone is interested or wants to know more. http://www.virginia.org/site/description.a...&MGrp=3&MCat=11 If there is a pirate group going or thinking of going, would you mind if I joined your crew for this weekend?

This year's Port Washington Pirate Festival is lucky to have Suburban Motors Harley Davidson as a major sponsor. We are looking for approximately a half dozen pirate queens/ladys/wenches to ride on the back of some gorgeous new Harleys for a Motorcycle Fashion Show, and possibly in the parade as well. The one caveat, due to the circumstances we can not have ladys in long, flowing skirts...while blood at a pirate event is to be expected, we would hate to mess up the bikes. So, for all you Buccaneer Babes whose garb includes pants...I'm looking for a few good pirates! 18 and over only, please. If you are interested, please send me an email dame_one@hotmail.com or pm …
