Lets see if this thread can avoid that evil spam monster The Great Lakes River Pirates, the Midwests premier Pirate Reenactors. Our Mission is To educate Ourselves and Others in Matters regarding River Piracy as it was practiced inland on the Lakes and Rivers of the 18th and early 19th C., through the adoption of the Clothing and Mannerisms of the Pirates and their Associates, Victims &c.

(Actually, we're a scurvy bunch of misfits; however, its all in the marketing...) We launched in the spring of 2006, a small band of folks who have met and gather at faires for some time and were looking to go to the next level. So our merry band has started out, guided by a few old salty dogs and a eagerness to learn and eventaully teach. We base out of Annapolistowne, Maryland and are always looking for new (or at least new to us) mates to add to the learning and merrymaking. Feel free to visit our yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GreatBayPrivateers/ Cheers! Tatu Ni'all FM, GBP

Hi, I just moved to NYC and I am looking for some pirates to hang out with. Not quite sure yet what pirates do in NYC, but I would love to get involved. Maybe we could go out to some bars and then ride the staten island ferry around? -MadKate

I'm along the CT shoreline and I've heard there be many a corsier nearby....I've spotted them out and about and now and again a quick jig and an arr escapes them tho they appear to consider it that no one takes notice. we are drawn to the likes of each other tho it is i believe and i would be grateful to see an opportunity to jes wet a whistle and get to know some of the same kind. it would not be beyond my capabilities if it were that i may have to travel a bit to join in refreshment and merriment if that be the case as well. with a bow and a wave.... godspeed and fairwinds,

Ahoy, shipmates! My First Mate and I are homeported in New Orleans and were wondering if there are any events coming up in the area over the next few months, or any crews to sign aboard? Anyone involved with the Baratarian crew at the Battle of New Orleans re-enactment? Also, we're taking a vacation in May in St. Augustine, Florida. Any particular points of interest there for us? Ye everyone, I’ve been reading all the posts since the fair. I my opinion there are a lot of good ideas, I like the pre gate opening meeting. The snig up list I think would work best if done on a web site posted at least a week before the next event (if possible), I set up a cite for my family that helps us know what’s up.... ie. A potluck list (so not everyone brings chips) where the meeting will be, what we will be doing, etc.. So I's thinking if a web cite was set up it could be used for a pot luck list and lists of what we want to do when ...like reading ____ book at ___time and people can put there name on that time. That way it helps make things a little smoother w…

After attending the Long Island Pirate Festival, I thought it might be a good idea to create an online home for crews/musicians/vendors/performers etc. on Long Island to network and plan mischief. It's also good for out of area folks who want to do events on the Island. Long Island Pirates Yahoo Group Please join and spread the word - I've sent out a bunch of invites but only one person has responded!

I realize there's a "Tales of the Seven Seas News Forum", but it appears to be vacant (there are no posts). No? I'm interested in finding like-minded (read: pirate-minded) folk in NoCal, tho' I'm not at the reenactment stage yet. Not that I wouldn't be. I'm just on the "I really, really love pirates tip", but nowhere near the I have my own equipment, let's sail" end of things yet. I'm, first, just trying to find like-interested folk, I guess. Um. Help?

Are there any pirates in the Vermont/New Hampshire area? I happen to live on a hill overlooking the Connecticut River in western New Hampshire, and as much as I'd love to go into Portsmouth to meet with folks, it's enough of a trip that I'd have to make it as a rare treat. But, if there's anyone on this side of the state, I'd love to join up with them. (Note: This is the same problem I had with the SCA - all the SCAfolk in New Hampshire seem to be on the coast...)

I'm looking for a crew that opperates out of Northern Virginia (Alexandria, Arlington). My options for travel are currently limited so I'm trying to find something close to home. Failing that... I'm wondering if there's any crewes that opperate strictly online? I suppose the Pub could considered such a crew but I wonder if there are others?

I am writing on behalf of California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, to find a small crew of pirates to perform at our annual company picnic. Unfortuantely the date is the same as the Ojai Pirate Faire, so I seem to be having a lot of trouble finding any available pirates in the California area. About our event: We are a not-for-profit hospital group with around 5000 employees. Our event is a company picnic which is scheduled to take place at the great lawn picnic grounds at Treasure Island in San Francisco on Saturday, September 24th, 2005.We are expecting a total of about 3500 participants to come during the event between the hours of Noon and 5PM. Another ve…
