I found the Pub last year and have spent the last twelve months discovering further internet pirate goodness such as Bilgemunkey, Pirate Magazine, many merchants, etc. And while these are great things one and all I must confess to getting crazier than a starving bilge rat being stuck here in the landlocked Rockies far away from all of these lovely events, festivals, and the like. Any other similarly afflicted scurvy dogs out there or am I truly stuck in this hell of a locker alone? Misery love company and a nice shot of rum after all…

These online name generators have always seemed a bit random to me. I was wandering if there was a formula for finding your pirate name, in the same way that there is a formula for finding your pornstar name. first pets name + mothers maiden name = your pornstar name (Bud Fox in my case ) or the formula for finding your romance writer name. Second name + the street where you live = romance authers name (Richard Greenstead) Please bear in mind that this is a work in progress, but here is a first attempt at a pirate name formula. Here it goes. Colour of your car/vehicle(or your front door if you do not drive) + The part of your body that most recently needed medica…

Having struggled thru the books and the language, I'm wondering how much of it will be in the movie. Will they speak as they do in the book or will it be put in easier english for the masses?

Ahoy, all pirates everywhere! With a heart both proud of our legacy and heavy at our loss, I must announce that Pyracy.com is closing the doors of the 'Pub' at the start of the new year. The Pub (as it exists now in website form) no longer draws in the pirate hoards it once did, and so we will be moving the Pub to more 'social' seas and we ask that anyone wishing to save photos, stories, discussions and any other thing contained on the website, please do so before the end of the year. Then we will commit the website to the deep.

Greetings from the Left Coast of the United States of America! I hail from the Los Angeles area (Burbank, CA) and am a member of that fine Southern California crew, the Port Royal Privateers. I wanted to thank the Forum Captain for setting up this site, I look forward to seeing the activity grow as more sea rovers find this port and drop anchor for a visit.

This excites me to no avail! (I must calm myself or I shall cause my nose to bleed!) There are many topics to discuss here; wigs, make-up, and attire with all its wondrous flash! Not to mention manner/behavior and etiquette! Ooo! This looks like it could be very entertaining, indeed! (Waves handkerchief lightly) Come now...do not be shy!

Wow, two Missions listed as having Birthdays today and both turn 15. Astonishing! Maybe twins surgically separated at birth? Well Happy Birthday to ye both. Jas. Hook

I'm just curious - what does the friends function do for us? I don't get it. Is it just a warm fuzzies thing? (Seriously, I'm genuinely curious.)

Hi my name is Matthew Krogh and I am looking to get into the hobby. I have a unit in mind but was hoping to get some input for sutlers and any ways to cut corners on cost by doing stuff myself (to a small degree). Any help or advice for this hobby (as opposed to Civil War reenacting which I did for 10 years) is appreciated! Thanks! Regards, MK PS~My civil war confederate nickname was Bambi. I'm guessing that won't work in the pirate world, haha.

In the past we've waited until November to get the gift exchange rolling. In the past this time frame has often been too short to properly keep overseas folks in the time frame of the Holiday Season. So, I'm doing a little survey to gauge the Pub's interest in participating in a Gift Exchange again this year. If there is enough interest, I'll start putting together the information and we'll get things rolling a bit earlier this year.

Wishin' not t' burden Tess's thread any longer, with a tale being spun by False Ransom and Jacky Tar, I have started a story tellin' thread here. This thread is not intended t' be as accurate as 'The Watch Dog', or 'Port Royal, Jamaica'. This thread will have romance and adventure; so, blood thirsty pirates may want t' post elsewhere. The story begins with the crew of the Relentless takin' on provisions and stores, and the unexpected arrival of an old shipmate seekin' t' join the ship's company.

Ahoy mates, I be new in port and wanted to say my 'ellos. I live on a boat and am cruisnig south along the Intracoastal Waterway, currently in port at Charles Towne (Charleston) South Carolina. I've been shooting black powder since 1976 and have recently become certified as gun crew at the Charles Towne Landing Historical Site, which looks like the beginning of a new addiction and is of great concern to my better half. My original foray into reenacting and muzzle loading was related to the Rocky Mountain fur trade, but I've always been interested in pirates and the history related to the latter part of the Golden Age, roughly 1670 - 1725. I am now in the process of a…

This is always fun... Perhaps it's been done... but... Let's make up some pirate limericks! They can make since, or not, who cares, it's fun... let's play! There was an old pirate from tortuga He ate sea turtles and beluga He preferred to drink rum But he couldn't find some So he settled for wine from Chattanooga. There was a young pirate in trouble He always smelled like a soap bubble So he rolled in dead fish And on a star made a wish And now looks like Barney Rubble. There was a big ship on the sea Captained by a pirate named Smee He got sick of Hook And decided to book To live a life fancy and free There was a young wench from Peru Who want…

Greetings ladies, gentlemen, and new found friends alike. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Emmanuelle Wilshire. However, many of my friends call me Emil for short. I have tread these pyracy pub waters many times as a lonely soul, but a bit too reluctant in dropping anchor, joining up, and respectfully introducing myself to all of you lovely likeminded people. My home is from the coast of Southern California, but I was falsely accused and convicted of a crime I had no bearing. The governor and his mob locked me up and sent me off in a caged carriage to a land I am not fond with or hold any familiarity. My love has been lost in my departure. Man mad…

Still tryin' to figure out just how and when cocked hats became associated with the Renaissance....not that anything at a Ren Faire bears any resemblance to the Renaissance anyway. That's kinda like dressing up as a cowboy except wearing bell-bottom jeans.

Have you ever considered, after a particularly brutal event, just hanging up the tricorn, cutlass and the black flag? Stopped being a pirate for a hobby? It doesn't matter if you are a historical reenactment performer, pirate entertainer, or just really like pirates and enjoy dressing up and playing the part! Do you have a break point or level that could drive you away? What could make you so disappointed, saddened or angry enough to give up being a pirate? Have you come close to leaving the hobby? Ever taken time away? Or is it that important that you could never say farewell?

Still have window treatments and such to put up and few more pistols up for display... I built a wall safe and hinged a pic frame over it......see?

It's time for the Secret Gift Exchange! Those of you who've been around know we've done this for the last several years with a reasonable amount of success and a few of us/you were looking forward to it again this year. If you're not looking forward to it, you can move along, or you can blame your compatriots who are. Or you can just blame me, I like this event. So here's how it’s going to work: Who is eligible: Any current member of the Pub is eligible. If you’ve only been around a few months, I’ll pair you with someone else in equal standing. The understanding being that this would put those newer members on equal footing, as both parties would be taking a risk with…

If you where interested in my ship you would say so, but you are more interested in what you look like and the way you talk than being on a real galleon with cannons and fighting the other pirates to be the best. Sofare the well and hope not to see you on the 7 seas, for Iwill board you and make you walk the plank on me endevors at sea............ Capt. bloody Jack Flint
