A lot of people at events carry their secret survivor drink around in various containers disguised as an innocent accouterment to their garb. I had a small metal Celtic flask (sadly it got a puncture hole somehow and became useless) that I put my favorite drink in, Rootbeer Schnaaps. (I'm looking for a new one if someone knows of where the Celtic metal flasks are for sale on-line, let me know!) BTW- If you haven't tried it, do so - really good! So what is your secret potion to carry around with you?

Gas is almost $4 a gallon. What's the per-gallon breaking point cost that will preclude you from going to a pirate festival or event? Will you be keeping close to home if gas goes to $7 a gallon? Will you not go at all if it's over $10 a gallon?

Wasn't sure if this was right for here but wanted to get some opinions: So as many of you know I used to play Blackbeard in Teach's Hole Pirate Shop in Ocracoke NC for a number of years. While there I filmed a show for TBS on Blackbeard, was an honored guest every night at Howard's Pub, did a number of appearances for local, state and national events and was treated like a local hero. It was great while it lasted but do my divorse I moved away from the island and made port in Raleigh NC. I was recently contacted by a local shop owner who is an old friend in Hatteras to do a 1 to 2 hr show for him at his shop to attract the kids and their parents with hopefully open wa…

I'm known as Robert "the Sea Wolf" Studley. I was born in 1672, and brought to America by my parents when I was small. We came from a tiny village in Scotland with hopes of a new life. My Mum and Pop got ill on the voyage over and died shortly after arriving in Carolina. I was raised by a kind Shipbuilder and his family. My nickname came from my fiesty nature. I was always getting into trouble and would rather spend my days out on the ocean than around the house. I worked on the docks for several years enjoying the tales from the Ol' Salts. One evening I was knocked over the head in a local tavern and awoke on a British merchant ship. Relunctantly I worked on the ship w…

:bangs cutlass on table and shouts, "Me grog, wench?! Where be me grog?!": Well, since it seems I'm not doing anythin' here til I get me drink...I be Mad Capn Bob, the Official Pyrate of Cuyahoga Falls Library, currently livin'...marooned, more like...in Akron OH. If it be that any of you lubbers readin' this be residing in NE Ohio, fire me a shot cross me bows (all right, drop me an email) I work in a library, which I suppose makes me a librarian (that be just me cover), and an educator (what, *me*?!). I'm also a flintknapper (and that be a whole different topic, if you be wantin' to know about that...), and two of me favorite toys are me atlatl and me sling (well, …

The whole SIMPLE idea of scrounging up a few scruffy pirates to board the M.S. Kenora (out of Kenora, Ontario) next summer and relieve her wealthy patrons of some of the excess gold seems to be growing into something much bigger than I had figured! The ship's captain has been bought (he likes the idea) and the owners will look the other way (seem keen on it), and now the City of Kenora might be interested in having pirates ashore to, particularly during their Harbour Days (August long weekend). The need for "a few scruffy pirates" is quickly turning into AS MANY AS I CAN GET! I NEED PIRATES! Where in blazes do I find pirates???? The two nearest cities are Kenora (16,50…

Well I've just gone on account and I'm hoping to find a crew around British waters to serve with. Been knocking around living history for a couple of decades but this is the closest thing to modern I've done so far. Got lots of dumb questions to ask so if I annoy you I guess it'll be the black spot or flying lead'll be my prize.

He never said where he was going. He just walked out the door and didn't turn back even once as he walked to the pier. I always wondered what became of him. Was he lost at sea? Did he perish in prison? Does he own land in the West Indies? Perhaps, he is adrift even now. Can anyone tell me what became of him? There is extra credit for creativity, so remember, keep it double spaced.

Can any mate recommend a good short-term sailing experience? Let me clarify. I'm not interested in modern sailing craft, nor in Windjammer type cruises. Neither do I have the time to devote 9 consecutive weekends to volunteer crewing aboard an historic vessel some 300 miles away, nor am I young and AB enough to be climbing the rigging. What I'm interested in is a cruise aboard a tall ship or other period type vessel, where we can (preferably) leave the sight of land, spend a night or two aboard, have an experienced crew, but be able to pick up some pointers about sailing the vessel. Can anyone so recommend? Capt. William

I promised Lady B that I would tell you all that she is fine, but busy moving another 45 minutes south of me with her family. LAdyB had some financial problems and had to move from her apartment this weekend.. Everything had to be gone by Monday at midnight. Luckily her family came thru and helped her big time! she wanted to make sure you knew she was thinking of you, and will be online asap. Until then, send some money and job thoughts her way!

So there's been an ongoing discussion about each of our forum names, but how about everyone's avatars? Some are pretty interesting - who made their own, who stole them (no shame in that, we're all pirates here)? Is there a link where we can see them up-close? My own was actually made by my brother, back in a day when I went by "spydermunky" online. Since switching my name, I added the red pirate hat and earring, and boom! Instant avatar.

Avast. Boson run up my colors. Birthing out of Tampa Bay, I and my crew of smallish rascals enjoy all of the pirate festivals that this area has to offer. We be looking for others to join on raids and revelries. Am always looking for good pirate plunder and fantastic adventures. We you stand by the mast with me?
