Hi, I thought of this fun story telling game which we did in school. Someone starts a story and then passes it to the next after 5 minutes is passed to the next. I thought we could try that here. Minimum amount of sentences = 2. Maximum amount of sentences = 6. "On a cold and stormy night the Captain arose from his large oak table. He went out with his lantern to check on the crew that was dealing with the evening's sharp rain and high seas. His map was clutched in his hand. He walked over to the man at the wheel and gave some corrections to their new heading. "I see the sea's will not be calm tonight" said the captain. "Come morrow we will see ..........…

So often I hear in a very authoritarian voice "there are no ropes on a vessel." True, once brought aboard most rope when put to use becomes a line. Most line with a name for the purpose it serves. There are , however ropes aboard. So here's the game; what are they?

Still tryin' to figure out just how and when cocked hats became associated with the Renaissance....not that anything at a Ren Faire bears any resemblance to the Renaissance anyway. That's kinda like dressing up as a cowboy except wearing bell-bottom jeans.

ahoy pirate family, we learned today that "Taz" crutchfield from the shadowplayers passed away yesterday. We were fortunate to spend most of the summer working the mid-atlantic festivals with him and the rest of the shadowplayers. A true showman and gentleman- god speed friend.

Thinks it's too soon to enterduct them to Capn' Jack Sparrow and Lot? I'd been absorbed in superhero geekery a for spell but few days ago I felt a powerful YAR! overcome me. Hi to all, I am a reenactor of 18th century naval and maritime events, and will be moving to Port Lavaca, Texas next month, having just bought a 30 foot (modern) sailboat (soon to be rerigged for training purposes), with intentions of buying and retrofitting an even larger (41 to 50 foot) sailer in 2015. Before this extravigance however, I am seeking a core goup of people in the Texas Gulf Coast Region (and guests welcome from anywhere) to learn to sail the "little boat" and form the basis of a crew devoted to portraying all walks of maritme life from 1700 to 1799.. The ultimate goal is to reproduce something like a packet boat or dispatch ship complete with able crew, …

Anyone know of good festivals to go to in the northeast (like ... draw a line from the western NY border straight down to the Atlantic, more or less). I have found a few that offer the likes of "cardboard boat races for the kiddies" and "face painting" and "fun with balloons," but I am afraid that FTPI has ruined anything like THAT for me! LOLOL If you know of a good one (or two .. or ten) and you are (might be) GOING, all the better! Would be nice to hook up with "old" friends again. I'm not asking for stuff even *I* could just find by chance with Google. I am referring to ones that you KNOW are worthy of a FTPI veteran! ;-) BTW, my HAT came in! WHAT A NICE HAT…

It's time for the Secret Gift Exchange! Those of you who've been around know we've coordinated this event for more than five years with a reasonable amount of success and a few of us/you were looking forward to it again this year. If you're not looking forward to it, you can move along, or you can blame your compatriots who are. Or you can just blame me, I like this event. We've had a lot of changes here in the last few months, over the last couple of years we've seen a substantial drop off in Pub usage. Many of us who are still here, have been here for years; as we go through our lives our time in the Pub waxes and wanes. I'm sure you'll all agree that we're thankful …

One of the guys that hangs around our shop and forges stuff just started collecting oldddd jewelry. He just picked up this awsome bronze skull ring found in the Bolcans. From all the other stuff it was found with is was dated from 400 AD to 700 AD. I am still trying to steal it from him. Can't find a better pirate ring if you ask me. Anyone else out there into old rings and such like this ? I am getting the bug real bad.
