Evening, all! So strange being back on the Pub! Back in the day, I was known as MercenaryWench around here. This profile got created a few years back during a previous attempted comeback, at which time i realized that i didn't even remember what email that original account was linked to so i couldnt reset and log in. In reality, the name is Miranda, but I'll probably also answer to "Mira", "Merc", "Tudor', "Mistress Smith", "Where the hell is the Captain's Steward???", And if you are under three feet tall and look excessively like my husband i will also probably answer to "MomMOMmomMAMAmooooom" I showed up here, originally, around '04-'05 as an a soci…

A large sleek Brig mysteriously appears out of the mist at the edge of the bay. Outside the pub a low rumble approaches.Growing louder, the rumble begins to rattle the doors and the tankards off the tables. Suddenly the door bangs into the room followed by a couple kegs of Ale and large hairy beast who drops a sea bag on the deck. I'm home! Greetings Lasses and Lads Doc has returned. Drink up! For those of you who only recently signed the articles, I am Doc - third generation US Navy, retired firefighter and lifelong naval/military history geek. Worked for years at the New York Renaissance Faire. Lifelong leather smith and model ship builder. Really been missi…

Since pyracy faded out I have been busy. Now Im divorced with an 8 year old I homeschool. There have been dozens of different builds and a relocation to TN. Internet is sketchy to non existent when I am in TN but check in as I can. For you viewing pleasure the newest build a 1 inch bore 1600's Spanish swivel Blunderbuss, "The Royale, no cheese" (think pulp fiction as it fires a 4oz ball). . .

I came across this image on-line & it looks real familiar, like it’s half a page in a kid-oriented pirate history book. I know the cutout is from a 1996 book (see images in the replies), but this version is perplexing me, esp the fact I can’t just pull out the book it’s in.

Greetings to all, I do apologize for the intrusions on ye ladies and gentlemen. I am here to learn the ropes as a fresh fish and to be in the grand company of you fine folks. Now, I suppose many of these newbies come and go with a quick hello and no good-bye. No worries here. I be like Jason.....I keep coming back! Sadly, I was cast away from the Golden Coasts of California and sent adrift to a land of twisting winds and shaky grounds known as Oklahoma. Yes, I must admit, I miss the soothing roar of the waves and the cool sea spray coating my beard, but at least I have some comfort now that I have found this wonderful place and you like-minded folks. If you should …

One of the things I've become interested in over the last few years is fountain pens. I haven't followed a typical fountain pen enthusiast path preferring, as usual, to do things my own way. But I never completely abandoned sea related things, so there was no passing up this glorious pen by Ryan Krusac. Moose antler, ebony and mother of pearl. It's so finely crafted that the north star sits above the prow of the ship when the pen is capped. What's new with you? What's old? What is both?

Great to see it’s back, after so many of us wondered off in our real-lives. Interesting to see how much the research has advanced since what was discussed on here. I can say that much of the work on here & members from here helped what came later. Maybe, it’s the foundation of it. Looking at old posts has been interesting. Thanks for putting it back up for the 20th Anniversary!

Ahoy, all pirates everywhere! With a heart both proud of our legacy and heavy at our loss, I must announce that Pyracy.com is closing the doors of the 'Pub' at the start of the new year. The Pub (as it exists now in website form) no longer draws in the pirate hoards it once did, and so we will be moving the Pub to more 'social' seas and we ask that anyone wishing to save photos, stories, discussions and any other thing contained on the website, please do so before the end of the year. Then we will commit the website to the deep.

I've spent the day digging up the garden and baking apple pies. Not terribly piratical, but indicative of the changing seasons and the impending winter. This changing of the seasons also makes this the season of the Pyracy Pub Gift Exchange! I'm looking for a crew, from far locations, willing to come together for a special mission. This crew will be elite, capable to carrying out the most difficult of tasks...putting things in the post. Sign up now! (Apologies to the Mercury crew I did not visit this summer (you might recall some life events for me this time, that continued through the intervening 12 months, some wonderful others on the opposite end of the spectru…

Ahoy, this is my introduction, My name is Evan, but you may call me wascopirate if you like. I have been interested in pyrate living history for about the past 10 years or so, and I just recently joined the Kern County Pyrates and privateers group which I found through the pub. I've been a lurker for a long while now, waiting for my registration to be approved which it finally was earlier this week. I like to make a lot of my own things as I'm well aware many here are, and I look forward to being able to get advice and input from all of you here. If there's anything you want to know abut me just ask as I still have a long way to go and any conversation is an importuni…

With a week of deliciously cool weather and the local ren fair season behind us, I know that it is time to look to the future. And that future contains the Pyracy Pub Secret Gift Exchange. I'm looking for a crew, from far locations, willing to come together for a special mission. This crew will be elite, capable to carrying out the most difficult of tasks...putting things in the post. if i might be so bold, i thought i would post the greeting to all who are aboard this year. i looked back though the christmas greetings from the past and wondered where those pirates are today, kind of a ghost of christmas past thing. to those that still fly the colors and those who flew them, i wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

What a great name. skullwench. I wonder what a skull wench would look like? Would she have a skull with long tresses? Like the cursed pirates in POTC? (That would be cool. Or, maybe as Stynky has corrected me in other discussions, it would be hot.) Perhaps she's just a wench with a skull motif? The mind boggles.
