Also ya can post if thar be a particular someone o the crew that you would like ta be seein a pic of.

Welcome to the Pyracy Pub. This is the definitive pirate community for discussions and topics covering reenactment crews, history, ships, food, drink, music, events, writing, craftsmanship, costuming, trade goods, and miscellaneous odds and ends outside the hobby. If you have an interest in pirates on one or all subjects, this is your one stop shop for life before the mast. We come from all walks of life and each of us has a different reason for loving the pirate trade, so don't be afraid to explain what brings you here. Introduce yourself and ask as many questions as you want. We pride ourselves on knowing a thing or two about pirates, and if we don't have an answer, we…

I located this post over in Beyond Piracy, posted by Capt. Morgan (April 20, 005) and thought that it would be of help to the new people here. It's a short quiz kind of thing. Try it out, for those who are having a hard time trying to think of a name for themselves. My Pirate Name or if you aren't happy with that one, try this one: Pirate Name Generator

With the return of the Pyracy Pub comes the reanimation of Pyracy Pub Gift Exchange! I'm looking for a crew, from far locations, willing to come together for a special mission. This crew will be elite, capable to carrying out the most difficult of tasks...putting things in the post. Sign up now! In all seriousness, the Pub Gift Exchange has been a lovely tradition going back many years. I've missed it; the creative gifts it has spawned and the good cheer for all. However, please, before you commit to participating in this event be absolutely sure that you will follow through on the terms as provided below. I'm sure you all can understand h…

Meet your Admin / Moderator Team Hello my name is Kimberly but I am known as The Black Syren . I am a Texas native and have always been fascinated with pirates and buried treasure. Grew up close to the coast so during the summer or on weekends I was always at Crystal Beach or riding the ferry to Galveston. The ferry became my pirate ship and I have been hooked ever since. However, I did not know about the Pyracy Pub till The Curse of the Black Pearl came out. I began looking online for others who shared my interest. I had no idea how many shared my interest till I signed into the Pub. Of course, signing in meant coming up with …

Back in 2009, Haunting Lily and I began a thread to consolidate discussions from all parts of the Pub regarding 'How to Get Started at PIP' (Pirates in Paradise). Since so many people were asking us about basic clothing, tents, weapons, and every other kit you can imagine, it was beneficial to have it all in one place. Having a list at out fingertips saved us a lot of time. Fast forward to 2012 and we're still sending people to that thread, which remains buried in one of the crew sub-forums where most people never notice it. I spoke with Lily today and asked her if I could move the materials in that thread to the Crow's Nest, but after looking it over, I've decided to…

How to use Discord for Chat Our Discord channel is a wonderful resource for asking and answering questions in real time. I recommend downloading the ap to your device of choice, but a perusal computer is highly recommended. There are two parts to the channel. ‘Written’ is for text communications, pictures and video, and can be seen even when using ‘Parlay’. ‘Parlay’ is a voice option, where participants can listen and/or speak to one another. When using ‘Parlay’ we recommend getting a good pair of headphones with a microphone and setting your voice and video settings to ‘Push to Talk’. This costs out background noise, feedback a…

The first round of the Pyrate Sketchbooks isn't quite over yet..... but it was soooo much fun, and starting the second round on Halloween is just too much fun to pass up...... I think we have all the problems ironed out.... (more in a later post) Here's how it works.... Everyone that wants to participate, post thier name and approxamately where they live.... (so I can figure out the most efficient mailing route) Then you get a sketchbook (more about this in a later post) You do about 4 - 6 pages of whatever you want in the sketchbook... kinda set th' mood.... On or befor the first of the month, you mail the sketchbook to the person after your name on "the List".....…

Now... always pondered about what a colonial town or city would be like with all of you! All of us living so close together (God and heaven help us all) in a colonial like town but with certain amenities (Those things we cannot simply live without and are necessary). So... If we had a colonial style town - say like Williamsburg, but a port town like Charleston - what would your business/career/trade be? What would your home look like? Would you be in town or outside of town? Just have fun with this, mates! Me? Well, my home would look much like the Kershaw-Cornwallis house (I've been in this house a few times, LOVE it)... My trade? Perhaps be one of the seamst…

What was it that lured you to piracy? I'm guessing that every pirate here has a tale to tell of how they joined "the sweet trade" I started out writing in a cyber novel on Pan Historia. In order to write with some level of respectability, I started researching pirates and their history. I was fascinated by the contradictions- The advanced level of democracy and disregard for race and social class standing among shipmates, coupled with absolute brutality and disregard for human life and suffering. I started reading and reading and reading. Pretty soon I was hooked. Years before, I'd been involved in a wild west gunfighters reenactment group and wanted to do something…

OK, I've got a general question for the board, based on a couple of things. First, I just got back from PiP in Key West. Now, granted I couldn't stay the whole week and left before many things even started, but I kind of felt out of place. Definitely a re-enactor among a group of Faire Folk. I even heard some talk among the Faire Folk about whether to remove fox tails, etc, and how 'faire' they could look. On another thread over at Captain Twill, Cap'n William says that he tailors his look and expectation to the event. So here's the question, or actually questions. Do the patrons of this pub consider themselves Faire Folk or re-enactors? Do you change your clothing…

Iffn' ye met anyone here from the pub out in the real world, tell us about it. Phone calls count too. For me I have met: Captain Morgan-best damn Disneyland trip with him thus far! RumbaRue Diego Rummy Captain Wolfy Wench-a member here, but doesn't post often enough Captain Grey-I saw her briefly at Comic Con one year, but didn't get a chance to really talk with her. Captn' Jack Sparrow aka Wade-only have talked with him on the phone a few times. Merrydeath-haven't met her, but had talked on the phone with her a few times. Pyrate Phil-well, haven't met him yet, but talk all the time either on the phone or IM chat.

Hi! I'm new here. My name is Renate. I'm 19 years old. I'm from the Netherlands. I'm a re-enacter of the Napoleonic period, I love to write (poetry, songs, stories) and I'm into medieval roleplaying. I love pirates of course. I'm a bit of a tomboy myself and I dressed up as a pirate a while ago (although I have no idea where I saved those pics). I'm piratescave her daughter (she gave me the link and I thought it looked interesting so I registered). So I also help out with the website in my spare time (link is in my profile). I don't know what else to say except: Yo ho! Yo ho! A pirate's life for me! Pirate Power! From Holland with Love, Renate

Who has them. As far as pirates go, I have a pretty cowardly idea about receiving pain. But I really want to get me one. What do you have and on a scale from one to ten how bad did it hurt? Do you think some spots hurt more then others? I may do this while I'm at Pirates in Paradise. OK show me some pics.

As I was lying in bed the other night, deathly ill, I started thinking how funny it could be if I started this here list and see what everyone could come up with. So I'll start it off, and everyone else add anything that pops into their heads. You might be a pirate if . . . ~You go into a bar and try to order Grog ~Anytime someone speaks negativly about pirates, you look at them in all seriousness and respond "You say 'Pirate' like it's a BAD thing!" ~You think Hamlet is Shakespeare's greatest work, not for the depth of Character, but because pirates rescue the hero -Well, that's all I can remeber for now. They seemed funnier the other night. Maybe I was delerious …

This is always fun... Perhaps it's been done... but... Let's make up some pirate limericks! They can make since, or not, who cares, it's fun... let's play! There was an old pirate from tortuga He ate sea turtles and beluga He preferred to drink rum But he couldn't find some So he settled for wine from Chattanooga. There was a young pirate in trouble He always smelled like a soap bubble So he rolled in dead fish And on a star made a wish And now looks like Barney Rubble. There was a big ship on the sea Captained by a pirate named Smee He got sick of Hook And decided to book To live a life fancy and free There was a young wench from Peru Who want…
