I remember as a 6 year old, I went to a school field trip to the Smithsonian institution in DC, Which I believe was the National Archives musem (or whichever the building that had this plumb-bob pendulum swinging acroos the floor knocking of some pegs lined upin a circle). Anyway, what I remember most, and what scared the living daylights out of me was a white bust on a roman column, with an Uncle Sam top hat. All of us students gathered round, then the face of the bust suddenly lit up, which was actually a front 16mm film projector illuminating a movie onto the bust, and it talked. Sooooo. ....naturally I am putting together something of a similar concept for the …

I have a loft above the master bedroom and it serves as sewing/computer/gunsmithing/library room. Computer is out of the picture to the right.... anyone else care to share? Greg aka GoF

So you are at the Ren Faire. Maybe you have enjoyed a little beverage. You feel a wee bit naughty and you are a pirate. What have you done?

Who's going to see it when it comes to theaters? I can't wait to see this, I love this type stuff. It has stirred up so much controversry. I'm pretty open-minded and who's to say it's either just fiction or indeed true. Nothing can really be proven if Jesus married Mary Magadelane (sp?). It's all here-say whether or not it happened. This should be a great and fun movie, I can't wait!

Has anyone (in the US) ever been able to do this indoors? I want to try it. Last time I tried it however, it failed. Do I need a greenhouse or what?

So I was thinking about this and there are a lot of people who smoke "weed" and a lot of people who dont think it's bad and vice-vursa. I just thought this would make for a good debate.

We are watching movies, reading books, and posting here on the pub. 12" since 6 a.m. and still heavily falling here near Warsaw, MO. The DOT shut-down the main trunk highway, and it looks like nobody is going anywhere for a couple of days. How 'bout ya'll? What are you doing to pass the time? Bo

Can't believe the sensitivity of some businessmen and politicians. What the hell are they thinking? Subject: Wind Farm Behind the French Castle Date: Wed, 21 Jul 2010 11:12:14 -0400 Old Fort Niagara needs your help. The New York Power Authority proposes to install a wind farm off the Lake Ontario shore directly behind the 1726 French Castle. See the link below. The first step in opposing this intolerable affront to the Fort's historical character will come on next Tuesday evening (7/27) when we have asked the Niagara County Legislature to adopt a resolution opposing Power Authority's plan. We do not oppose wind power, only the construction of these mass…

I agree with all you have said both in this post and in your other post under Firefly. BSG is a very good scifi drama, in most ways superior to Firefly. The odd thing is, with Firefly there are some episodes that stick out in my mind as being far superior to others. With BSG, its... like... how to put it into words...? Thus far, the overall quality is such that I'm having a hard time pointing to one episode and saying, "yeah, that one is great." I guess I'd liken it to Seinfeld, in that, there are scenes you remember as being great, but it is hard to remember which episode the scene was in because taken as a whole, it is just like one long string of great scenes. Las…

Don't get me wrong, I've misled you into reading this. Sorry about that. I like Christmas... bits of it. I like spending time with people I care about, I like seeing other people happy, I like the feeling that just for once my failings are overlooked by those that surround me. I LOVE the smell of christmas trees (ecologically friendly ones from sustainable forests), I love putting up decorations (on Christmas Eve, not November). I love the atmosphere of naughtiness that pervades Christmas parties when everyone's drunk too much of my jelly-baby vodka or butterscotch rum. But why should we only feel that good for one day a year? If we're capable of living so happily then wh…

Fistfights 1 2

A couple years ago some friends and I were out enjoying Chinese for lunch, and the topic turned to fistfights. I was totally floored to learn that I was the only one at the table who had been in a fight. I figured every guy must've gotten into at least one fight in his life. After taking the "Which Lost Character Are You?" test, I got to thinking about that again, and I figured at least two of you have been in a fight, or maybe even better, a barroom brawl! (C'mon Petee, time to fess up!)

Ok Im seriously ticked. I chat with a lot of friends on msn, a few weeks ago I was contacted and added to someones list. I thought it was one of my friends who is often changing emails and sn's. So I accepted it and to my disbelief it's some guy I have never met nor spoken with and he will not tell me how he came by my info. I blocked and deleted him but now he is sending me e-mails and such. How can I get him to stop or who do I contact to report him? He's really freaking me out and I hate being freaked.

I'm not one to compliment people unless they really put forth a superior effort, but I must admit this one was pretty clever. I received this email this morning: And then there were a bunch of buttons to respond to the request or take action on it. All lead to a non-eBay website where the first thing you have to do (naturally) is log in. Your first inclination is outrage and to cry out for justice by responding to the request. Pretty clever. All the same, I reported it to spoof@ebay.com. Bloody pirates.

Seems to be alot of DP cases in the news lately. Do you believe convicted murderers can be rehabilitated to the point of being reincorporated into society? Or have their cases be mitigated to Life w/o Parole? Should it truly be an "eye for an eye"?

This sort of goes hand-in-hand with the Pirate Bar Necessities topic however I want to keep the two topics separate. As we get closer and closer to completion on my pirate bar it has become apparent that the room itself is quite plain and that it will be the decorations and accents that will give the room "life". Which leads me to my dart board cabinet: As you can see the case itself is pretty plain. And since 90% of the room is wood toned it sort of gets lost. So we're trying to brainstorm ways to liven it up a bit. A few ideas we have are making a smaller version of my 3D wood Jolly Roger and just splitting it in so the doors can open. Or I can make the s…

Not sure where to put this but I think it deserves to be brought up. I know a couple months ago on the Point of the Cutlass forum someone had posted a call to arms for some pirates to join Extreme Home Makeover to help out with a boy who liked pirates. Didn't know the full extent of it nor the story and couldn't join in the fun cause I got that call to arms nigh a week too late! Pity. But that story was told last night and oh, how it moved me! The lad who likes pirates is named Job. He's 10 yrs old and has battled and won against Luekemia, had a double lung transplant, Wheelchair bound and continues to battle severe health issues. And he's 10! Extreme Makeover: Ho…
