Arrrrr...I come bearing gifts to this board, and my gifts, in addition to my fine self, are some of the word play games I started at a previous board. The first one is, "The Last Word Becomes the First Word" The game is as the title says. You take the last word of the last poster's line and make it the first word of your own. Here are the Rules: 1) All the rules must be followed. 2) The first rule is the most important rule. 3) You must absolutely follow Rule #1. 4) Rule #1 must always followed before Rule #3. 5) Disregard all the above Rules, except for Rule #1. 6) Don't post twice in a row. 7) Always use the last word of the last person's line. 8) If two p…

This thread be for the redbeards and redlasses only. None but true redheads be posting here lest there be bloodshed. Aye. Example: Joshua Red. Tis as fine a speciman of the copper top pyrate variety as ever I've seen in these here parts. Aye. Note the proud jawline. The upturned and noble eye. Arrrrrrr! There be a fair number of redbeards among us.

I hope this is where I should put this thread as it seems the most suitable for my request. Would the mods be so kind as to consider the possibility to add a Pirate Banter and Insult forum. Not a place to just be a jerk but a place to better ones skills at the art of bantering. Nothing is worse then being face to face with a pirate and have no other abilities then to stare blankly as they cut you by a razor sharp tongue and wit. I find it just as essential as learning sword play and small arms in today's pirate world. This forum would be the place for all to vent on the willing instead of blind siding the innocent. Also would serve as a good ranting forum for any a…

I promised BlackJohn I was going to post this. Let me apologize in advance... So, I've been studying Chaos Theory lately and it got me to thinking about the workings of the human brain. Nobody is really sure how our minds work, they are sort of a black box, even to the experts. At first, I thought perhaps our minds behaved in a manner that defied mathematics. Then I realized that this takes us away from the realm of science and into the realm of mysticism. However, trusting in mysticism as an answer is a sure sign of ignorance (IMHO - feel free to take offense and write long diatribes defending mysticism. Perhaps that is what this topic is for.) So we come back to mat…

Nice. I can't beat that. I saw $3.19 at the station I paid $3.39 two days ago. But I found another station at $3.13 I think it was. Of course, across the street here it was $3.56 this morning... these guys are notoriously high.

It's one thing to wish what you're ideal partner's qualities should be, but what about the reality? One of the great things about doing Ren-fairs/pirate events is that the larger person is readily accepted. That's something personally I appreciate, even though I've lost a whole lot of weight. I'll never be thin, but not overly huge either. I love a man with some meat on his bones, but not overly obese as I find skinny just nothing there to hold onto. So I'm really interested in what each of you really like size wise in the opposite sex.

Many of us on here use nicknames for the screen name. Some of them it's pretty obvious what the real name is, like mine. Yup, it be Christine. No surprises there-lol! So, iffn' ye want to reveal yer real name, go ahead. And no, ye don't have to give yer last name. Some of you know my last name, it be Johnson. Such a common name, I know.

Admit it; even though we may be pirates, there are those times in life we just go "awww" and whatever it was it warms our hearts. So the question is, whats the cutest thing you saw today? Post those pics, videos or whatever it was. Here I'll start, this is the cutest thing I saw today.

This is the opposite of the Last Word Becomes the First Word. You take the first word from the prior person's post, and make it the last word in your line. The rules for this one are vastly different from the rules of the Last Word game, except for Rule #1, which is the only one that you must heed. The game is as the title says. You take the first word of the last poster's line and make it the last word of your own. Here are the Rules: 1) All the rules must be followed. 2) The first rule is the most important rule. 3) You must absolutely follow Rule #1. 4) Rule #1 must always be followed by Rule #2. 5) Disregard all the above Rules, except for Rule #1. 6) Don't …

Brain: "Behold, I can create fire from a little box." Cannibals: "So what?" "Big deal." "Let's eat 'em." Brain: "I can steal your souls and put them in this glass." Cannibals: "So what?" "Big deal." "Let's eat 'em." Pinky: "I can make bubbles with my spit." [the cannibals gasp and begin to bow] Brain: "Now do you believe we were sent by your god?" Alan the Cannibal Leader: "Naw, that's just really cool." I occasionally bring up this decorating magazine domino that I signed up for for free on Amazon.com because they usually have approximately one interesting thing a month in there (IMO). This month, they had a picture of a chandelier that's just really cool. Of cou…

What clued you in to the existence of the pub? In my case, it was Ed Foxe who was on another forum with me and recommended that I check this place out. What drew you into sailing about these waters?

And now for a completely random new topic for which everyone has been waiting on tenterhooks. Let's start with an overlooked gem, Tom Tom Tomcat. (It's a gem IMO - mostly because of the version of Raymond Scott's "War Dance for Wooden Indians" over the last minute or so.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBiOzYCpcGk (Tenterhook: A hooked nail for securing cloth on a tenter.)

Fascinating... on multiple levels. What happens, I wonder, when a group of Masters are gathered together in one place? Do some of them get bumped down to Athlete status? If so, has this suddenly become a litmus test for "who is a true Master"? And is anyone truly a master of anything? Have you mastered yourself? And where is that coffee? Or Phil? I could use a good philosophy discussion right about now... Yrs&c, Blackjohn, who knows he has mastered not a single thing, least of all himself.

Ah, the classics...writ large in the original tongue. Brings a tear to my eye. Or as me great, great, great, great, near-great, great, great, great, great, well, pretty-darned-close-to-being-great, great, great, great, great, all-right,-but-not-quite-great, great, great, great, swell, great, grate, great, grating, great-grandpappy always used to say, "ĦŦŃŁŽƏŴǔǑǍΈΐΏ ΓΩΨΧΦΣڌڇ۩۩!" "Oh freddled gruntbuggly, Thy micturations are to me As plurdled gabbleblotchits On a lurgid bee. Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes And hooptiously drangle me With crinkly bindlewurdles, Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, See if I don't!"

Which is May 9th and not to be confused with TLAPD on Sept. 19th. *Thanks William Red Wake for finding this tidbit* So what are ya'll planning for this May holiday? Parties? Going to the movies dressed as yourselves- pirates that ye are? Just what will you be doing? And if nothing perhaps it's time we start celebrating in May as well as September.

Since I started Petty Annoyances, I thought it might be nice to have the more positive flip side. So, post here the simple things in life that bring a smile to your face, and make you think the world isn't such a bad place...even after you've seen the evening news. For me right now, it's babysitting a friend's horses — three minies of various heights, an ex-racing thoroughbred, and her big riding horse. I had horses for 30+ years, and found homes for my last two a little over a year ago, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss them. So having these guys for a week really does make me smile.
