If you are using Mozilla Firefox as your browser (and if you're not you should be!) this is what you need to know and do, thanks to Mad Jack. The hacker is using a back-door patch and is going through people's names here at the Pub. I wish to thank Mad Jack on bended knee for this wonderful information! From Mad Jack: I just found a trojan on my system called Backdoor.Redghost. It allows a remote user to take over your system. The info on it and the removal steps are here. Spy I installed an extension to my FireFox browser (under Tools -> Extensions, click "Get more extensions") called NoScript. It blocks the execution of web-based scripts unless you explicitly all…

I had read that Disney plans to take out the part on the ride where the caterpillar smokes from the hookah. Is this really true? They made the movie based off the book and it shows the caterpillar doing that. All these years later why would they decide to remove it? That just would be ridiculous if this is true.

no, no baby on board this ship yet... But I have started to wonder how babies play in piratical reenacting? How do you ladies deal with pregnancy in the field? What adjustments do you make? And what about infants? I don't want to give up reenacting just because I get pregnant, besides... it seems to me it would be very "pc" given how often women were pregnant. BUT it is important to be safe and healthy, what solutions have you come up with? And there is also the issue of clothing... What do you think?

Hello All! I just returned from a wonderful trip to Hawaii. My childhood friend, Sue, bought 4 tickets and I was the recipient of one of them! We stayed with another friend and saw many beautiful sites. We climbed Diamond Head, Parasailed, toured the Dole Plantation, swam at Waikiki, visited Pearl Harbor, went to the North Shore and saw many Sea Turtles. As we were taking the Ferry one morning 10 baby dolphins about 3 ft. long swam along side and jumped in the wakes of the Ferry. It was a wondeful time. Here are a few photos for you to see. Sunset at the Luau... Deanna (left) Sandy (right) almost at the top of Diamond Head Sea Turtles.... Onboard the Missou…

I've heard a lot of talk about 18th century backpackers. To tell ye the truth, I live an hour in either direction from two grand moraines and I love to pack. Can anyone give me more info on these sort of groups? I'm in Wisconsin.

I debated putting this topic in Captain Twill. It's not really about what women did about pain from wearing bodices centuries ago, tho, I'm sure it will come up. This is about what any of the women here on the board do to help prevent back pain from wearing a bodice or corset? I got a lecture from my chiropractor about wearing a bodice. How the spine was not meant to be constricted like that. I got him to at least admit that my low back pain was not from the bodice alone. I need a better mattress for one and also turning wrong in my sleep caused further pain. I've been doing better since seeing him on Friday. I still tho wake up slightly sore, but at least there'…

This is just a crazy! Did you know that the banana in the 1950’s was a totally different banana than the one we eat today? Now I’m talkin’ about the “regular” eating banana here. In the 60’s a disease wiped out the banana that everyone was used to. This happened because the banana plant is a clone of it’s original. Well bananas are under attack again. There is a new disease that is wiping out bananas as we speak. The Asian crop is all but extinct and the bananas you are eating now are only from countries that have been able to fend off the disease for the moment. Scientists are working hard to find a replacement banana like they did in the 60’s. They have produced one t…

I agree with all you have said both in this post and in your other post under Firefly. BSG is a very good scifi drama, in most ways superior to Firefly. The odd thing is, with Firefly there are some episodes that stick out in my mind as being far superior to others. With BSG, its... like... how to put it into words...? Thus far, the overall quality is such that I'm having a hard time pointing to one episode and saying, "yeah, that one is great." I guess I'd liken it to Seinfeld, in that, there are scenes you remember as being great, but it is hard to remember which episode the scene was in because taken as a whole, it is just like one long string of great scenes. Las…

Heard about this on the radio this morning. Man, Ca. is really getting screwed by nature again this year! Hope all is well. I remember when I was out there on Treasure Island, a 5.6 wouldn't even raise the eyebrows on a local. Still, hard to imagine living under that threat constantly. We are still waiting on the old New Madrid fault to wake up and shake up here in the mid-west, but I ain't in any hurry! Bo

BBC Saturday, 29 November 2008http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/mpapps/pagetools...ent/7754622.stm 'Mummy, can I phone the pirates?' One of the biggest frustrations facing journalists is being unable to get through to people on the phone. But as Mary Harper discovered, contacting the Somali pirates on the Sirius Star turned out to be child's play. It was a cold, dark, wet and miserable Sunday afternoon. I was in my car, driving my 12-year-old daughter and her friend back from a birthday party. I was tired and fed up from being in the car. "Mummy, mummy," trilled a voice from the back. "I want to phone the pirates." My daughter had heard me repeatedly trying to get throu…
